I usually took a few weeks off in between passing/failing a section and studying for the next section or restudying for the section I failed. I had to do this to spend time with my family before I got engrossed in studying again. The downside to this method is that it just made the entire process longer than it should have been. From the time I started studying for my first test to my last pass I took 6 tests (2 fails) and it took me 18 months. The stress built up greatly because you start pushing against that 18 month clock and it probably affected my family worse than if I had just kept going because of how long it took. The other downside was that it was extremely difficult to get back into study mode. I don't know what to say to get you going again except that I completely regret my approach now that I'm done and I wish I had just kept going strong with the studying until I passed each one. The longer it takes the worse it is. Trust me on that one. Just get it over with while you're in study mode and while you're still on the high of passing one. Congratulations on passing REG by the way!!!

I looked at studying as something I was obligated to do, like going to my job and doing laundry. You don't get to blow off either of those because of holidays so you don't get to blow off studying either. I did the opposite of Cpamommy, I started studying for my next section the day after taking an exam. Start to finish I was done in 12 months, not sure I could have survived a day longer.

Yep. That is what I should have done. The extra 6 months I took were unnecessary and I regret it.

I feel like I let work bring me down. I get so overwhelmed and there is so much required I feel like I never have down time. I know I won't have it studying because I have been at this for so long. I know I just have to do it to finally have it done! Just so very frustrated with BEC. It is the worst one for me.

As long as you passed in 18 months doesn't matter how you got there 🙂 I might have been a much more pleasant person had I taken a few weeks off between studying! My family paid dearly during those 12 months and a lot of that was probably unnecessary.

I can guarantee you that it did not make me any more pleasant. Sure I was Supermom for a couple of weeks (in comparison to how I am when I am studying). Going to the park, playing more with the kids, etc, but I think it made it that much harder on the kids when I got back to studying again after the break as opposed to how it would have been if I had just kept going. I really wish I had taken your route.

I passed REG in May and decided to take the summer off and begin FAR again in September…the break in my opinion wasn't worth it. My girlfriend, family and friends enjoying seeing me more and what not but the whole time it just added to my stress…even though I wasn't studying I was still stressing because I knew it was a big gamble letting a full window go by without sitting. So to me, looking back, taking a break wasn't worth it. It was also really really hard to get back into studying after taking time off…just keep studying.

It makes me feel a little better that others have felt the same way and dealt with the same issues. I have been at this for wayyyyyy too long. Ready to attack some BEC!!!
