    Dear Friends,

    I am an international candiate

I got my evaluation and it shows 135 credit hours with 3.75 in accounting

My accounting credit hours are low

Is there any state (international candidate) which will accept me under this or do I have to take some additional courses in accounting

Thanks in advance for your advise

    Have a good day

I would imagine that the 3.75 credit hours in accounting will be a problem. Indiana requires 150 credit hours total and 24 credit hours of accounting.

    FAR 12/3/14, 87
    AUD 2/3/14, 90
    BEC 4/1/14, 88
    REG 5/27/14, 94

Washington and Wisconsin also accept 24 hours in accounting. I don't know of any state that accepts fewer than 24. I have 24 accounting hours on the nose, but 201 total credit hours, so I don't know of states that allow 24 hours and fewer than 150.

I believe U of North Alabama has courses that meet credit hour requirements and help with exam prep. I don't see a way to pass the exam with so few accounting hours. The 18 I just took really only prepared me for my exam prep, and now I am working harder than I did when earning the 18 credit hours.

You can register in Maine with 15 credit hours in accouting, 3 of which can be an ethics course.

Is 3.75 his GPA or credit hours? I'm confused.

@super_Cpa i think he's talking about his GPA, and when he refers to ‘low' he means his overall 135

@ 135 credits you will need to get 150 in any state, however some states will let you sit before you have 150. As long as you have a degree and 24 hrs in accounting.

@nicole2035 That is what I thought. But the posters above me kept referring to it as his credit hours hence the confusion. Anyhow thanks!

irfan778 requirements vary from state to state, however most require a total of 150 credits with and 24 hours in accounting. Looks like from your report you are short in both… You will need to take additional accounting classes.

MIMI86- “You can register in Maine with 15 credit hours in accounting, 3 of which can be an ethics course.”

This is not true. You must take at least 1 course in auditing and ETHICS COURSES DON'T MEAN ANYTHING! I had read this was the case as well, but after applying it was determined by NASBA I needed to take one more accounting course.

“I believe U of North Alabama has courses that meet credit hour requirements and help with exam prep”

Hey I got my bachelor's and master's from the University of North Alabama! Cool to see someone here mention it. As for their courses, none of their accounting MBA courses are offered online, so if this is an international student, s/he would have to move to Alabama to take the courses. The accounting MBA is the only MBA UNA offers that doesn't have an all online option.

I did 5 of those online UNA courses, they are pretty much the CPAExcel review course with some additional tests and quizzes. I would recommend them. Sounds like it would help you out and it is all online.

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.

    Hi Irfan,
Wondering what you ended up doing. I'm in a similar situation with no accounting credits and need some more credits in business to count towards 24. My education is from the US and don't know who to approach to get them counted (I think individual state boards)?

If you have zero accounting units and need some more business courses, the Masters route may not be enough so your best course is to get another bachelors in Accounting. If your education in in US, it's more likely you will not have to retake those core courses and can use your other units as electives to satisfy the degree requirement, and you'll only need to take the Accounting and Business courses for a second degree.

Most jurisdiction requires 24 semester hours of accounting courses at the upper division level (junior level courses or higher), and additional 24 semesters hours of Business courses.

Depending what State is your residence, it is most economical to enroll in a University in your home State to take advantage of the In-State tuition. Or if you plan to take courses online, there are several Universities that offers online degree in Accounting and most offer in-state tuition if you are only taking the courses online.

Here are a few Accredited Universities offering online Accounting degree: (In-State Tuition rate for online route)

BBA Accounting at Georgia SouthWestern State University – $199 per credit hour.

BA Accounting at Clayton State University – $220 per credit hour.

BBA Accounting at Chadron State College – $279 per credit hour.

BSBA Accounting at West Virginia State University – $301 per credit hour.

BS Accounting at Athens State University – $309 per credit hour

BS Accounting at Southern New Hampshire University – $320 per credit hour.

    Good luck with your search.

    I will survive!

    AUD - 79
    BEC - 89
    FAR - 97
    REG - 82
