    Hi,

I looked at the exam structure of BEC 85% MCQ & 15% writting. Just of of curiosity, is it possible to pass BEC just scoring 75% on MCQ alone?

    Thanks in advance

IMHO if you can post here, you should be able to get at least a 75% or higher on the SIMS for BEC.

A monkey could almost write well enough to get a passing grade on the BEC SIMS. So in my mind the SIMS are just busy work and you conceptually you could just pass on the strength of the MCQ's.

EDITED TO ADD: you, of course, have to actually perform the SIMS to be able to pass on MCQ's only. You also have to use proper grammar and spelling.

It would not be possible to pass just by scoring a 75 on the MCQ's. Im assuming this question is being asked if someone were to run out of time, before being able to write anything in the written communications. If a candidate were to receive a scaled score of 75 on the MCQs by themselves it is my understanding that they would only receive a total score on the exam of a 63.75 (round to 64 maybe?) because it would work out to be 75 * .85 (weighting). A candidate would then have to receive a scaled score of 88 on the MCQ (75 / .85) to pass based on the MCQ's alone.

    REG- 81
    BEC- 72,76
    AUD- 67,88
    FAR- 78

    Done!

If you score around 75% on the MCQs, that puts you in a decent position, but it won't guarantee it. In fact that's pretty borderline.

First, no one knows exactly how % correlates to your score on the exam. 75% on the WHOLE exam may or may not be enough for a pass. We just don't know.

Second, I have to disagree with most of CPApending's opinion. While weighted lower than the MCQs, there are plenty of candidates (both international and national) who struggle with the writing portion. Heck, I couldn't help but notice several spelling, grammar and punctuation errors in your (CPA88888's) brief two-line post – all of which could have an impact on your score.

Is it possible to pass the exam with 100% on the MCQs and 0 on the writing, yes – probably. But if you score around 75% on the MCQs, and say 50% on the writing… you may be in for a failing score.

    AUD - 79
    BEC - 88
    REG - 87
    FAR - 86 - Woot, all done!
    Ethics - 100

Are the BEC MCQs as easy as the one from the reviews??
