    Hi yall,

    I was wondering for the BEC written part, will all the questions they ask relate to Business related items only? Will they ever ask us be a senior auditor responding to an inquiry from an entry level auditor asking about Independce rules(Auditing exam topic)?

    Also, a second question. If they ask us about a certain topic and Im not sure what the answer is, if I guess the answer, do the CPA graders grade us on the accuracy at all? According to Becker, they say the graders won’t grade on accuracy. I was just wondering if it was more beneficial to write more and guess more opposed to keeping my answer solely based on stuff I know for sure even if it means my response is a lot shorter.

    FAR-81!!
    AUD-69, Retake: 84!!

    BEC tends to ask questions that relate to business related items but sometimes they are in the left field and might seem like FAR or AUD questions. Don't worry about the topics. Just practice your writing (and BS) skills. You are NOT graded on accuracy; however, your answer has to be on topic and helpful to the reader. I would say it is better to write more as long as it can be preceived as helpful, on topic, and you have time.

    Wait, they actually don't grade the accuracy of your response? How can that be possible? That means that this is basically the only part of any of the 4 sections that is not testing pure technical knowledge. Is this confirmed by the AICPA or just speculation?

    @praying I pass

    https://www.aicpa.org/BecomeACPA/CPAExam/ForCandidates/FAQ/Pages/computer_faqs_2.aspx

    “In written communication tasks, candidates are presented with a situation and instructed to write a letter or memorandum on a specific topic.

    Written communication responses are scored on the basis of three criteria:

    (1) organization (structure, ordering of ideas, linking of ideas one to another); (2) development (presentation of supporting evidence); and (3) expression (use of standard business English). Responses that do not address the assigned topic are not scored. Click here for more information about written communication responses.”

    I completely made up crap for one of them and still got “comparable” on my score for WC. It was a crazy FAR topic which I had no idea about since I hadn't taken FAR at that time.

    Don't kill yourself over practicing. It's pretty easy and I only left about 30 min for all three (10 min) each which was enough time. Just communicate clearly and in complete sentences and you'll be fine. Stay away from big words.

    Good luck!

    BEC- 10/5/12- 81
    FAR- 11/30/12- 80
    AUD- 1/15/13- 89
    REG- 2/28/13- 92
