Has this been a side effect for anyone else?

Pre CPA exam, I loved to visit happy hours, attend wine & food festivals and go out on weekends.

After a year of studying for this exam and awaiting my final result…i’m finding a do not have ANY desire to do any of the 3. Theres a wine festival next weekend I have attended the past 3 years I am going to pass on.

I’m not sure if my brain is set on “ignore all these anti study activities” mode or if I have changed in the process.

And just to add – I’m not just moping in my room hah, spent the weekend poolside, by the beach and visiting family.

could be the things you have done over and over are getting boring. Might be that you are ‘growing up' in the sense that things you like to do just arn't the same now as what they were.

I kinda agree. I'm currently waiting on my final score and not studying and for the past month I've been in love with doing absolutely nothing

It will be cool to see how people thought about themselves pre-cpa exam, and then after the exam or in progress.

I use to love driving around my ‘fast' car and racing it. Drove it around this weekend for the first time this year and it was kind of “meh”. Went back to studying. 🙂

Pre-CPA: Happy, upbeat, and optimistic. “I'll pass that exam in 2 testing windows! Bring it on! Hold my beer. I got this!”

During-CPA: Why does god hate me? T_T Dear Pre-CPA self, you are a moron.

Post-CPA: Jittery. I finished in March and my brain is still stuck in study mode. I have to keep busy doing something. I started playing the piano again. I only had 2 semesters experience in high school so I'm still learning. I pretty much need something to keep my brain going. I can't just sit down and watch tv anymore. I still watch tv but I'm always doing something alongside on a 2nd monitor.

Pre CPA exam: Yeah, I gonna kill this exam !

    Post CPA exam:

Bartender: I think you had enough Buddy. Time to go home.

Me: Come on man, just one more drink. I might get lucky with the girl over there.

    Bartender: GO HOME!

Other Guy at the bar to Bartender: I wonder if he realizes that the woman is just really a cardboard cutout of the Coors lite Girl.

Bartender: GOD DAMN IT! GO HOME! STOP HITTING ON THE CARDBOARD CUTOUT OF THE COORS LITE GIRL! SHE'S NOT REAL!

I felt an incredible void in my life right after the exams. Similar to what one feels after four years, when suddenly, you don't have to report to classes in September. I really just wanted to study. This lasted for 2-3 weeks.

Other than that along the way a bunch of friends were shaken out, invites stopped hitting my mailbox (after all, how many times are you going to email a guy who declines) and I definitely felt a sense of distance. So what you are feeling is real.

I think what the ordeal has done is that it made me realize that you can go on without this activity or that person. I've “recovered” since, got a new hobby (aviation) and some new friends (non college crew).
