Ok who’s in with me? I’m going to incorporate Jeff’s ELL Tax Season plan starting with this weekend. With that said, I’m planning on working today. I have a big box I need to get through. Once I done with that I’m going to start re-writing NINJA notes and working on MCQs. It’s going to be interesting since hubby’s working today and I have the kids to myself. Here goes nothing. My plan, to get in at least 6 hours this weekend.

Started sitting in May 2002, on and off. But since 2008 I've been nonstop and my scores are....
    AUD - 39, 48, 56, 65, 68, 73, 76!!! (Finally passed in Oct 2011!!!) Becker, NINJA, & Wiley
    REG - 75 (Lost Credit) 72, 68, 73, 75 (Passed again in Aug 2011) Becker, NINJA, & Wiley
    FAR - 65, 68, 75 (Lost Credit) 68, 73, 73, 80 (Passed again in May 2012) Roger, NINJA, & Wiley
    BEC - 65, 68, 71, 72, 72, 71, 76 (Lost Credit)- 70, 76!!!! I AM DONE!!! - Roger, NINJA, & Wiley
After 10 long years of studying, I AM DONE!!!! Finally a Licensed CPA in the State of New York!!

I'm in JoMarie! At least for today. I'm going to really try to take 1 day off a week. I think it'll help prevent me from the mental breakdowns of overworking my little brain. So Sunday I will take it easayyy. I'm done all the AUD lectures. Today is my first day re-reading the chapter, and working on MCQs in chapter 1. I think reading the chapters a lot for AUD will help this time around. Didn't read them at all last time, just took a lot of notes (which seemed to work for REG–not so much for AUD).

JoMarie have you tried using the pomodoro technique? I'm going to be doing that all day today!

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

We talked a lot about it in this thread: https://www.another71.com/cpa-exam-forum/topic/thoughts-on-pomodoro-technique-or-other-studying-tricks

Basically, study your butt off 25 minutes (set a timer) then take 5 minutes off (set timer again) I love it!

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60

I am in too! Going to spend about 6 hours at the library working mcq's until I drop. Tomorrow should be more of the same.

@Peanut, I think the Pomodoro technique is awesome. I am not so great about writing all the stuff down, but trying to focus for 25 minutes, is super helpful. It was great of Kasia to share it. I mentioned it to my oldest (sophomore in college) and he was like, “oh yeah Mom, I haven't heard of that, but that is how I study.” It works for him!

    Have a great weekend everybody.

@Yankee, I don't write anything down either. I just set my timer to 25/5. Keeps my ADD in check

Totally understand that. BTW, I think I am going to try the final in Becker today. Crossing my fingers it isn't so bad. I will let ya know!

also, how is the job search going? I am meeting with a career counselor this a.m. It is a free consultation. I thought I would have him go over my resume. I really want to go full time in the next few months.

@yankeeaccountant, I haven't “officially” started. I browse indeed.com nightly. I really want to have 3 exams down before I start full time. Not knowing my BEC fate is killing me. I know I'll knock out AUD—I better knock out AUD. I have plenty of time to study before the close of the window, I really don't think I'll need a full 6 weeks. I will probably just go to a headhunter/recruiter in Boston to get a feel for what is out there. Hopefully a company will be willing to throw me in during busy season.

Let me know how that darn Becker final review goes today! Good luck on it! Hope it boosts your confidence!

I just tried it and I love it!! I am working thou. I did get a lot done so far and I've only worked for about an hour. I'm adding up totals for payroll. Getting them ready for payroll quarterly reports and W-2s. So far I've finished 7 clients.

@rmm91909, Yes, I was a staff accountant for a year in NYC for a large corporation. I did minor part time accounting work throughout college as well but I don't really count that. I'm living back in the Boston area now.

I work for a firm in Wakefield, MA about 20 minutes from Boston named Tonneson + Co if your ever interested 🙂 We just had a senior accountant give her notice… Just a thought when you said a Boston headhunter!

Nice! Wakefield is closer to me than Boston. I live on the southern NH border, eagerly waiting to relocate ha. I wouldn't mind sending you my resume! Do you mind giving me your email, or I can send you mine?

Any moderators around to delete posts?!
