Prestudy, ie studying before studying?

So I am reading about FAR and REG questions in BEC, BEC ratios in AUD and FAR. AUD in BEC and vice-versa.

What is going on here? The study materials do not prepare for this.

Maybe the sequential strategy is not the best: study one section, anyone, until you pass, then move on with the focus being 100% on each section.

If the AICPA is going to shift content around, why not do an initial, cursory study of most sections (a pre-study), then go back in earnest for the final preparation?

Unless you are going for the EWS award there is no reason to do any cross section preparation. People that suggest that there were questions from other sections have no idea whether or not they were pretest questions or not. We also have no idea whether or not they are we even adequately prepared in the first place.

I am familiar with your study philosophy and I am certain that if you focus on one section at a time and fully prepare you will have no problem passing. If there are questions from other sections the chances are there will be only enough to bring a 99 score down to a 96 score. If you did a half mass study prep they may be enough to bring you down, but for most well prepared test takers they will not make much of a difference.

Also keep in mind that it would be very difficult and time consuming to retain on multiple sections worth of information to the level that would be necessary to answer a random question pulled from another section. My guess is the questions “from other sections” are just holes in that particular CPA prep course, and these holes could be more easily plugged by using two review courses per section than trying to review multiple component of the CPA exam.

    Good Luck!

Passed all 4 exams in 2014!

    Thank you for your feedback.

As I am delving into FAR, I can't see myself memorizing this (often irrelevant or inconsequential) stuff just to possibly get an award.

I'll just focus on passing and put my energies in other, more productive outlets.
