Probably Messed Up Reg Again

Took Reg a few months ago and got a 74. Obviously a bummer, but I told myself, all you have to do is improve on a few areas and you’ll be set. So I only half-assed studying, didnt put the time in, and only went through the motions to prepare. I still felt more confident than I did last time, so I was feeling pretty good.

I went in to the test this week and just made stupid mistake after stupid mistake. I screwed up a question and then they proceeded to ask me a similar question again in Testlet 2 and 2 more times in Testlet 3 and I got all 5 of them wrong, I mixed up things between individuals and corporations, and I just messed up some stupid things that were easy questions. I thought my MC tests went medium-hard-medium so I guess all wasn’t lost. I had to leave about 5-6 per book unfilled the first time around and then circle back to them.

Simulations were difficult, the research question was a gimme like most of them, I had no problems with 2 others, 1 was average and then two were tricky. One of the tricky ones wasnt even a topic covered in Reg, it was covered in Financial. So I have no idea what to make out of that.

Overall, I’m not feeling too great. Not sure I pulled it out and now have to study again for Reg. The point of this post I guess was 1) to vent and 2) let people know who get a score in the 70s, dont think it will come automatically the next time. Put in the time and effort to make sure you dont have to take it a 3rd time.

I just took the Reg exam a few hours ago and I was completely thrown off by the simulations. I also had one that was entirely a FAR topic and some other ones that were on topics that were barely touched upon in Becker. I found myself trying to teach myself the concepts in the middle of the exam because I didn't know what else to do. Topics that I thought for sure would make an appearance on my exam were either barely touched upon or not mentioned at all, which is a bother.

It sounds like you did decently well on the simulations though–certainly better than me! If you found two tricky and was able to somewhat work your way through them, then I think you'll be ok. Hopefully your performance on the multiple choice was just enough to get you over the 75 mark!

I guess we'll just have to wait until December 9th and see?

Reg Sims are always brutal… I will be taking this test for the second time on the 30th. I too had a FAR question my first attempt, and did not have one sim where I had to “click and choose” an answer. They all had to be manually filled in, which is obviously much tougher. Did you have any sims where you were provided answers to select from?

    FAR - 11/30/14 -79
    AUD - 2/19/15 -86
    BEC - 4/09/15 -86
    REG - 11/30/15 -87

    I'M DONE! ITS OVER! WOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

@Olinto part of one was click and choose. the rest were manually fill in with numbers. Like I said, 2 of them plus the research question were gimmes. I got those in no time. The one that was a financial one I think I missed. The other 2 were kinda meh. I mightve gotten those, I mightve missed those, it could've gone either way.

@boyland, I agree 100%. Sounds like our tests were very similar. A lot of the key and main topics I barely had one question on whereas they were asking me all kinds of weird things. We shall see, hoping to pull it out but wouldnt shock me to come up a little short again.
