Prometric Computer Issue

I posted this in my FAR Experience post, but also wanted to throw it out there for others to see.

I had 2 minutes left of my exam and exited the exam to start answering the post-questions but the computer screen never got to the Prometric desktop screen and just stayed white (as if it was processing). So the test administrators RESTARTED my computer in order to get the message on their end that reads “submitted and complete”. What does that mean? Did they submit my answers or just a blank test? I’m worried. But not freaking out. I probably should be freaking out, right? The test administrators told me everything is “fine”.

No, don't freak out about it. I've had that happen before with Prometric tests and everything still worked. Given that you'd already exited the last “testlet” (the SIMs), those answers were submitted to their computer bank, and if it showed on their computer as being received, you should be fine. You might be able to call Prometric the next business day and ask if the scores have been received, but I'm not 100% sure if they could give you an answer or not.

Does your review course have any info on what to do if you experience issues? I had a similar issue and was concerned about my test being submitted. I sent an email to NASBA Candidate Care (candidatecare@nasba.org) with the following info:

    Name

    Section ID

    Jurisdiction

    Date of Exam

    Test Center

    Description of Issue

I sent an email (don't even bother trying to call) on a Friday afternoon and received a response on Sunday afternoon. NASBA was able to confirm that my answers were captured, saved, and successfully transmitted to AICPA for scoring.

Thanks rupert! I'm going to try emailing that address. I'm not sure what my review course says, I will look that up tonight after work. I'm also hoping Jeff will read this and give me his professional opinion 😉

This is sort of a scary post to show up on google!

I took FAR a week and a half ago. I answered all the questions and filled out the survey at the end. Then, a grey box appeared with something like PLEASE WAIT, disappeared, reappeared, went to a white screen, and then finally went to the desktop. I just sat there for a minute wondering if it was alright to leave. I'm assuming that if no error box came up then they have my scores and everything's fine? NASBA says that the NTS I used to take FAR has been used, so I think that's a good sign.

I guess I'll find out for sure in a few days.
