Prometric messed my exam up.

I was scheduled to take AUD today but Prometric ended my test early. I check in and when I was waiting for the Prometric employee to login in to the computer he brought another employee over because it’s showing an unusual prompt. After a few minutes they sat me down so I can launch the test. I get through the acknowledgements and when it’s at the direction screen Windows starts shutting down. Not like a ‘cut power’ shut down. A little window pops saying “Windows is shutting down” and all the open programs close. So I tell them and they relog me in. The lady waited to see if it will shut down. It opened at the direction screen again except this time it was the directions for the simulation problems. I told her this wasn’t right and they are usually at the end of the exam but it said Testlet 1 of 4 at the top. I decide to go through with it and see what happens. After working on the simulations hour almost an hour I completed and it told me the test was complete and it was time to take the survey. I told the Prometric staff what happened and they began to call customer service. They were unable to reset the test and I now have to contact NASBA to report the incident. All sign in and sign out procedures were carried out.

I have yet to do this and I’ll update as I find out more.

My only 2 questions for them would be:

    1. Are you paying for my re-take

    2. Can I take my exam in this testing window

If they say no to either, i'd be pissed.

I remember seeing a few other posts regarding problems that happened with Prometric. I seem to remember everyone's prior issues working out with appropriate accommodations, so hopefully you get to retest at no charge as soon as possible. Good luck!

This happened to me as well. I took audit the first time right in the beginning in January after they just changed the exam (January of 2010). I was almost done but my computer was extremely slow…so I asked someone from Prometric what to do. The proctor moved me to another computer and the same thing – the computer was slow. They moved me a third time but the test did not reappear – it took them over an hour to tell me that my test was already submitted to NASBA for scoring. I had to contact Candidate Care and they said I had two choices — score the test as is or take a free retest. I chose the free retest as I wasn't confident enough that I had passed. I don't remember if I had to take it in that testing window as my mother-in-law was sick and I couldn't take it anyway.

    Good luck to you!

Something was going on with my exam last Monday too. The computer wasn't loading, so they moved me to another one and it was very slow too. Luckily, it was before I started the test. They had to contact the help desk to resend my test. The way I was explained, the test is uploaded in separate files and if one of the files is corrupted the whole exam will not load right.

Don't worry Samdiego. I have never heard of it resulting poorly for the candidate if the fault is at Prometric. It could actually earn you a few extra days to study. 🙂

    Or maybe you passed anyway??

    MBA,CMA,CPA, CFF?, ABV?

    UPDATE

So I got an email from NASBA saying Prometric would contact me for a reschedule. I was able to use the same secion number and the usual spread of dates was available. I went with July 30.

I guess its nice I got to study a while linger but I would have rather gotten it out of the way. But it did get resolved quickly

so if this happens to anyone else it's nothing to worry to much about.
