Just wondering if it is frowned upon to bring our own foam ear plugs, like the ones we can purchase at a local grocery store? I don’t like using Prometric’s earphones. Thanks for the help!

I'm going to say no. You can't even bring your own tissues if you have a runny nose. They have to give you some. I don't see them ever letting you bring in earplugs.

I took my first exam in April and did take my own ear plugs. No problems whatsoever. I told them I brought my own ear plugs, they asked me to put them on the laminated note sheets (wrapped in a kleenex).

Got an answer if anyone is curious…. from Prometric site… it is as follows: ” You are allowed to bring soft ear plugs (with no wires/cords attached) or center-supplied tissues in the test room.”

I've always heard it depends on the location. My Prometric let's you bring your own. My Prometric also only requires 1 form of ID.

Bringing your own ear plugs is a good idea. I never had to but the last exam I took, the noise cancelling headphones weren't adjustable. The test center used to have decent ones, not sure why they changed them out. The whole time they were pulling down on my ears, really uncomfortable.

Not subject related but, at my last test as I was leaving somebody got busted for cheating in the bathroom. I am not sure if they were there for the CPA, Step 2, or Series 7, but the person got busted. I can't imagine how that would feel, all your study time, and hard work gone right down the crapper. Ugh.
