Push back FAR and retake REG?

    Hi all –

I am looking for a little bit of advice here. I’ve taken REG twice now, once in August and received a 62, then again in November and received a 71. I am about halfway through the Becker chapter for FAR and my exam is scheduled for 1/6/16. ( I failed FAR back in Nov 2014 with a 60 but already had an NTS for the other exams so I just moved on). Should I push back FAR to the end of February and retake REG in early January since I am so close? Or should I keep on studying with FAR since I am already halfway through?

    Thanks for the help!

    FAR - 60 (11/25/14) 61 (1/6/16) 75 (4/19/16)
    AUD - 75 (1/6/15)
    BEC - 71 (4/7/15) 77 (7/2/15)
    REG - 62 (8/28/15) 71 (11/2/15) 84 (2/12/16)

^ It's up to you, but if I were in your position, since you are halfway through FAR and it's the longest exam, I would go ahead and stick with taking FAR on 1/6/16.

Then, afterwards, you can restudy REG and take it sometime in February. If you scheduled REG for the end of February, that would give you approximately 6-7 weeks to study for it.

    AUD - 85 (8/30/2015)
    FAR - 73 (10/13/2015), 85 (2/29/2016) (AND DONE!)
    BEC - 83 (11/04/2015)
    REG - 81 (11/30/2015)

@jcbcpa Thank you for the advice. I'm going to keep studying FAR. In addition, I don't know when I will receive my new NTS for REG and I don't want to take any chances with moving around testing dates.

    FAR - 60 (11/25/14) 61 (1/6/16) 75 (4/19/16)
    AUD - 75 (1/6/15)
    BEC - 71 (4/7/15) 77 (7/2/15)
    REG - 62 (8/28/15) 71 (11/2/15) 84 (2/12/16)

^If you weren't halfway through FAR, I might would suggest the opposite, but since you say you are halfway through the FAR chapters right now, I'd stick with FAR and try to crush it the beginning of next month.

^I took REG yesterday evening and will find out the results on December 9th. I'm taking this week off from studying because I need a short break! Once I find out my results, I can then decide if I want to sit for REG or FAR first. Since I'm not halfway finished with the FAR lectures like you are, I'll probably sit for REG again first if I fail it.

    AUD - 85 (8/30/2015)
    FAR - 73 (10/13/2015), 85 (2/29/2016) (AND DONE!)
    BEC - 83 (11/04/2015)
    REG - 81 (11/30/2015)

Crossing my fingers that you passed! It seems that we are on the same path so keep me updated when you get your score. Maybe we can push each other through these last two.

I've taken short breaks when I only had a week or so to wait for my score and reevaluate my plan if needed. But since I had to wait 4 weeks for my REG score I didn't want to waste too much time and started FAR the very next day. I hope I can knock both out in Q1 and finally be done with this painful journey!

    FAR - 60 (11/25/14) 61 (1/6/16) 75 (4/19/16)
    AUD - 75 (1/6/15)
    BEC - 71 (4/7/15) 77 (7/2/15)
    REG - 62 (8/28/15) 71 (11/2/15) 84 (2/12/16)

^My goal starting out was to get all 4 parts attempted by the end of the year, even though I had a late start. I started out with Auditing, since I work as a Governmental Auditor and just met my 150 hour requirement this past summer taking an Advanced Auditing course. It was still a lot of studying, but it wasn't too bad. I then had FAR and it was rough. I just dove straight into BEC and took the BEC exam the same day I found out my FAR exam result (I waited until after I finished the BEC exam to view the FAR score though), and then dove straight into Regulation.

I was originally hoping to pass at least 2/4 parts, but now that I have and now that I have taken REG, I really hope I can enter 2016 with 3/4 completed. But if not, I'll just have to plow though it next year.

I think you have a good plan for tackling FAR and REG next year. Hope it works out for you!
