    Hi All,

I applied for a position at PWC which I was referred to by a friend and I applied for it online. I checked the status and it said initial interest. However its been ten days and I have not heard anything still. What should I expect from this status, are they going to directly call me for a phone interview or are they just gonna email or call to schedule for the phone interview or whatever the next step.

Please someone share their experience if they have gone through the same thing.

    Thank you

Well for me, I had someone submit my resume to a recruiter. The recruiter emailed me saying someone referred me and to complete a profile and apply to the position I wanted. The recruiter told me to let her know after I was done with this step. And after this, she gave me choices for phone interview time slots.

Well I directly applied through the online system after getting an email from PWC stating I was referred to these position and follow the steps to apply for the job in the email.

There were no recruiter involved in this so that is why I'm confused why haven't I been contacted if my HR status is initial interest. I read all over where people usually are contact with week or two after this status.

Can anyone provide an answer? I have similar situations. I recently applied for two positions. One has shown initial interest for over a month. Another has been ” in progress” more than a week.

I was recommended by a friend as well. Did not receive any information or even an email until HR emailed me to schedule a phone interview. That email basically told me to create a profile online, pick a position i was interested in and pick a date for the interview. This took several weeks to about a month from when the recommendation was made. It is not surprising for it to take a long time.

I thought the process should be very fast as the busy season is coming.

    Hey guys,

just wondering if there are any chances for an international candidate to be hired by a Big 4 in the US? I have passed all four parts of the CPA exam and waiting to apply for my license was wondering if this would be possible.

Busy season has already started. So, that may be why things are moving slower. You will just have to be patient.

@CPAfit its getting harder harder these days especially if you need to get sponsored.

@rugger yes I've heard that it's not as efficient as it used. Although, I was under the impression that the Big 4 firms have enough resources to sponsor people from abroad without much hassle. In addition to the high turnover of associates in the Big 4 industry, they are always short on staff and are willing to hire people who plan to stick around long term.

They are willing to hire more people, however, they have been focusing more on hiring people that do not need to be sponsored. They do have the resources to hire outside of the US, but it also costs money for them to sponsor you and I believe they have to justify why they think your skills are skills they cannot find in the US. I had a friend who was from abroad and they actually told her that they have changed things to where they will sponsor people once they get to manager level. She paid for her work visa herself and already had a work visa when she joined the firm. The only problem was when she was ready to leave Big 4 she could not because once again no one wanted to take on someone who needed sponsorship.

You are better off working at a Big 4 in your country and then doing the work exchange program. This is how some of my friends that I grew up with in Africa managed to move to the US.

@rugger Would you mind explaining how the exchange program works? I am currently in the process of getting employed at a local Big 4 firm and I would love to know about the possibilities that would allow me to relocate overseas.

The recruiting process is really confusing. I had a phone screen on Jan 23rd and have not heard back. I log into the website. My status is still initial screen. No rejection email.
