    Hello Guys,

I was recently invited to a Core Assurance Superday with a BIG4, and I feel really anxious about the event/interview!!

I REALLY want my career as a future CPA to take off with this firm, therefore, I would truly appreciate any inputs on what to expect for the event itself and the subsequent interviews.

On a side note, I am studying for the BEC exam which I will take approximately two weeks after my interview, and would please like to know from those of you who have taken and passed BEC with Yaeger (that’s what I’m using) if the MCQ’s on the actual exam are as hard as those on the Wiley Text. Thank you all in advance 🙂

PwC interview is ALL about personality. Seriously, relax during the interview. It's basically a conversation. When I had mine, we started off with the standard behavioral questions and ended up talking about cooking.

What they're trying to do is figure out if you're a good for the company culture. So don't be afraid to let your personality show. During your interviews, you'll likely get a current employee as a guide to give you a tour and take you to your interviews. Do not be afraid to ask them questions!! They volunteered to be a guide and are there to help you out in any way you can. (they also may or may not be asked about their impression of you). Just be polite to everyone you encounter.

    Good luck!

File your nails. Some interviewers will not hire a candidate that shows signs if nail biting.

Research about the PwC Professional. It's on their website.

Remember to be yourself. They honestly want to hire somebody bright (but if you have the interview you have already beaten out most and are seated very well for the position), but they also want to hire somebody they'd like to work with (fun, easy to talk to, easy to be around, etc). You are going to be putting in some long hours at times with these people, so don't be so nervous that you don't speak much, but don't ramble either. Just be yourself. When I interviewed at PwC it was honestly so easy to talk to them and the day went by very quickly. You'll be fine. Good luck!

Thank you all for your tips and suggestions. I went to the interview and received an offer the following morning!!!

I am super excited to join the team, but prior to doing so, I'd like to be done with the exams. Has any of you passed AUD with Becker? Did you read the whole book and then proceeded to doing the MCQ's and Sims? I just feel that it is a lot of info to memorize.

First of all, Welcome to the firm!! What office will you be joining?

Secondly, I used Becker text books and the Wiley Test bank, but how you learn will be different from how others learn. For me, I laid heavy emphasis on memorizing mnemonics and drilling questions. Whenever i did practice questions and got answers wrong, I'd write out the question and correct answers. Took a long time, but thats just me and; there are people who read half the book and walk right out of the exam with a solid score. Just try to figure out how you learn best and build a strategy around that.

Congratulations again and best of luck!

Thank you AngelCityStories!!! I will be based in NYC. Thank you also for your tips on studying for AUD. Since I have almost a month before I take the exam, I will get as many MCQ's and Sims down as possible. Also, what did you do upon accepting the offer from the firm? Did you start right away or waited for months before starting? Did you keep ongoing contact with the recruiters, HR, etc.?

    Pollomind-

Conrats- a month should be more than enough for AUD. I signed with PwC in a major market as well. My start date is about two months after my offer. In my experience, the recruiter has been available all along the way.

I've interviewed with a few other firms and PwC's recruiting/HR has been nothing short of impressive.

Awesome! NYC is a huge office — hope you like fast paced environments 😛

I received my offer in about mid-November 2013 and started the following January; they generally interview and make offers throughout the year (though some times moreso than others), but have large groups start at the same time so that new hires can be trained/oriented in groups. So if you're worried about taking some time to study first, don't be worried (in fact, talk to HR about it), because its perfectly normal to receive an offer and start one or two months later. I've kept touch with the recruiter that originally contacted me and presented me with my offer. Like billbrasskey pointed out, the HR here has been very welcoming and approachable.

I'm sure there are a million and one different experiences between people within the firm, but so far it's easily the best job I've ever had thus far in my career.

    Hi Pollomind –

    Congratulations.

Can you share some of your experiences from the Superday? I am attending a PwC Core Assurance Superday in NYC next week. I really would like to land this position so any insight would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!!

Superday was without a doubt an amazing experience! One gets to interact with staff members who will gladly respond to your questions about the firm, culture, and even share their own experiences. One also has the opportunity to meet other like minded candidates who may ultimately (perhaps) join the firm, thus allowing you to build relationships early on. My best advice would be to relax and be yourself. They want to get to know the real you as much as you want to learn more about the firm!

Thanks Pollomind! Were you're interviews structured/behavioral? Or was it more of a get to know you “shoot the breeze” type thing?

    OlintoJr,

During the interview, everything is fair game. You might get drilled with behavioral questions or you might end up having a casual conversation about any topic. It all depends. In my case, I certainly had some behavioral questions but for the most part we ended up talking about challenges facing the audit industry, compliance, reporting frameworks and things along those lines. But again, be prepared because you might have a different experience. Good luck on your interview and let us know how it goes!!
