    Hi all!

I got lucky and have been invited for an office interview with a Big 4 and I would like any advice you guys may have for me. It is for PwC’s assurance associate position.

Does anyone know what type of questions they may ask? What to wear for the pre night event (lol)? I am really nervous and will really appreciate any advice that you may have (or stories of your experience).

    Thank you in advance!

I worked at PwC in NYC for 4 years…if you got the interview, the job is yours. Be yourself and stay professional. During one of my interviews, the manager put his feet on the desk and was testing me to see if I would change my professional level…good luck!!!

    A - 75
    B - 78 God is good.
    F - 77 Answered prayers.
    R - 84! Done!!

At my PwC office visit I was asked about journal entries for a specific transaction, lol. It was super laid back, and I get the feeling he was just messing with me because they had already made up their minds to hire me before the interview even started.

@CPA…one day I worked at Pdub for a little….Make sure you have logical questions to ask your interviewers (Partners, managers). Use YouTube to help you prep! It depends on whether you are right from college or have industry as to which questions they will ask. Right from college=behavioral, prior experience the questions will be technical..so prep yourself on explaining the work you currently do and how you solve problems when you encounter them on the job. Also be very passionate!.. Like..when they ask you is the travel ok..say I loooove traveling (specifically for the HR interview)… and just be yourself..think about what sets you apart and why you are the perfect candidate for the job! Also be able to explain why you are!!! Youtube is golden tho!! Go on there and type in questions..you will hear the responses of other folks!! Goood luck!!

Thank you to everyone who responded!

@super.senpai lol thanks, i'll remember to do that 😉

@Topsya, I have searched. Most of the things here (and elsewhere) are outdated…My colleges HR said that PwC has implemented new hiring techniques and was hoping that someone who recently got hired would be able to share their experience. Especially in the NYC area 🙂

@Determined CPA, Wow! That is really laid back! Thanks

@Riley_N, oh boy! Were you able to answer them correctly? Or did they not care for the correct answer? (only cared for your reaction?)

@belindaj22, Thank you! I will jot down answers for typical interview questions so that I have a response for things they may ask…This technique did not work well for my initial phone interview tho! I had not looked up much of the questions that the HR had asked me and I basically winged it lol

I'm really nervous! And excited…to top it off, I will be taking FAR the next day O.O

@CPA..one day I recently got hired. Everything was exactly how people would describe it here on the forum. It helped me SO MUCH just to read through their posts. I felt very prepared and knew what to expect

    Also try glassdoor

I went to one in Stamford a few years ago. I knew someone that was friends with a partner and told me that you can impress them by asking good questions and carrying a conversation. The event at night was very casual with some first year employees to talk to. They complianed that the company went cheap on the food.

@Topsya and alboreland, Thank you both! That puts my mind to ease (a little)

Jotting down answers in the STAR format to questions I am able to google…hopefully this helps out!

Thanks! Core Assurance in Virginia. I am taking my exams under the NY jurisdiction though and will have my scores transfer into VA once I'm done. I'll be sure to come back here and let you know how it went if I go before you.

Yes please, I appreciate that! Sorry I should have been more specific, my interview is on Oct. 15th.

Awesome! So you will be flying out to VA on Thursday? (How exciting is that!)

Is the process of transferring scores smooth? I was having difficulty finding a date open in Oct in NYC and didn't want to take it in NJ because I thought it may be difficult and time consuming to transfer scores.

CPA..one day.. I promised I would keep you posted. I got an offer 2 hours after I left the office!

Definitely just relax and be yourself! Make sure you can tie your school/work experiences into what you will be doing in real life audit or tax based on the job description. They asked me mostly behavioral based questions, but I have 5 years private industry accounting experience so they did throw some questions about my resume as well. I was there from 9-2:30 and I'm still jittery that I got the job, so I know I'm leaving out a lot of information. Oh, they did ask how I kept up with things that are happening globally. Feel free to ask me anything. I'm scatterbrained at the moment, so please forgive me for not being more detailed.

iAmGoingToPass – OMG congratulations I'm SO happy for you!!! 😀 (so happy that i forgot my password for a second there lol)

Do you remember any specific question that they asked?

Was a difficult interview as scary as you thought it would be?

Things happening globally? Anything specific that I should know about? (I have been living under a rock for the past 3 months, studying for FAR and a full time job)

I still don't know the timing of my interview, they said that they will sent me additional information regarding the timing details as the interview date approaches…and its on Wednesday, and I am yet to receive any details!
