    Hi guys!

A friend started work at Deloitte in July this year and intends to submit my resume for referral next week. My question is does the number of years of the employee with the firm matters in contacting referred candidates. Also if not, how long does it take to be contacted if referred?

I was referred by a partner and contacted in 2 days. Your mileage may vary with a first-year associate.

    MD Candidate: 10/1/14

    FAR - 87 (11/23/14)
    REG - 87 (1/30/15)

    AUD - 98 (5/30/15)

The number of years should not make a difference, my friend started work at PwC in July and referred me. I was contacted by the HR recruiter the next day to schedule a phone interview for the following week.

    No, it doesn't matter.

If you are qualified, and they have an opening, they will call.

‘My question is does the number of years of the employee with the firm matters in contacting referred candidates.'

Sure – if it's a partner and the partner tells the recruiter, we have to interview this kid – your chances are a lot better than if it comes from a staff. Something that matters a lot is how much experience YOU have – if your friend Johnny graduated last year, and you are just graduating now and he is referring you now – that referral will be almost meaningless. Typically the firms only ask for referrals for experienced applicants – they have enough campus applicants to fill their entry level needs and don't need their new hires trying to get their friends who haven't graduated yet jobs.

“Also if not, how long does it take to be contacted if referred? ‘

All depends on the recruiters schedule, if they have open positions and how quickly they are trying to fill them.
