I took FAR in November and made a 68. I’m taking it again in a few weeks. Would you all recommend studying notes and the book more or practicing the questions in the CPA software? What do you believe is more helpful come test day.

For me personally, it was more helpful to work the questions and read the explanations than to read the book (well in everything except the governmental and not for profit material). I felt like I was wasting my time reading because I would read the chapter, then the questions would be 100 times more painful, even though I understood what I was reading.

I'm using Bisk. I actually read the entire book then watched the DVDs last time and didn't practice the questions too terribly much and got a 68. Now I'm considering just practicing the questions more. Heck I enjoy doing questions a lot more than reading.

I barely passed FAR in November. My plan had I failed, knowing I had hit all the Becker information fairly hard was to try a cram course. I felt that I couldn't get anything more out of the study material I already had. Just a thought. It may give you enough of a different persepctive on your weak topics.

FAR has the most information. you have to know something about all of them then take the exam and get amazed at what is not on the exam. I used Becker Final Review ten days out to highlight areas that i didnt know that well. it also helps you remember subjects that you havent read/reviewed in weeks.

REG 75, BEC 77, AUD 66,74,80 FAR 62,71,85 feels good to be done!!!!!

I passed FAR last window. I based my studying off the diagnostic report (after failing with the dreaded 74). Mine showed a low score in Non Profit and Governmental so I studying the heck out of both of them. I think Yeager does a WONDERFUL job teaching both subjects so I watched the lectures a few times and hit the multiple choice questions over and over.

Also what's worked well for me so far (3/4 of the way done!) is to buy the gigantic 16 x 30″ pads of paper , write down my notes, equations, etc and then stick them up all over my house. It's amazing what sinks in when you see it everyday

After already reading the Becker's book and lectures my first go round with FAR, I started to just focus more on the questions only reading when I needed to get a better understanding of the concept(s).

I failed FAR with Becker and Gleim. I just needed more hand holding! I went back to Go and I did not collect $200. I started all over again with Yaeger and I passed FAR. I also passed REG and BEC the first time using Yaeger. I am now a 75% CPA.

Insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result. If one review program does not get you a passing grade, try another review program. Every review program offers you a little something different.
