Focus mostly on Taxes and Property transactions. I wouldn't worry too much about Ehics or Blaw.

I think everyone's experience varies. I actually got a good amount of ethics & blaw on mine so I'm glad that I at least went over the material. I didn't do any of the hw problems for them tho. Just like Skynet said, most of the focus of REG is on the tax portion.

It is a lot of stuff but focus on tax and SIMS. I got burnt because I spent too much time on MCQ.

Trust me, study it in detail and do the homework. Don't skimp on blaw or ethics. It really does vary because I feel like my experience was the total opposite of a lot of people on REG with the content.

According to Becker, ethics and business law make up, roughly, 40% of the exam. Of course each person's individual exam is going to be different but do you really want to risk leaving 40% on the table?

The majority of my MC were ethics and blaw. I'd make sure to get a good understanding of those.

I think you should focus some attention on it. I believe I watched the Becker videos and completed the homework, but the majority of your time should be focused on the Property transactions and taxes.

Know about basis and the different ways different situations affect it! That's the best piece of advice I received before taking my test. And I really think it was essentially the difference between passing and failing for me.

Yes, the exam mainly focuses on taxes.

Don't ignore anything. There will be questions on business law and ethics on the exam. Those questions could be the make or break on your exam.

I had plenty of questions on BLAW and Ethics on my exam.

Ethics is just one chapter… Why skimp on it? For me, I was able to skip BLAW because I felt super comfortable with tax.

    BEC - PASS (79)
    AUD - PASS (63, 71, 74, 74, 83)

    @Skynet

I see you added another “Phase.” You may run out of time and die before you complete all of the them. LOL.

SIMS are going to satisfy majority of the % that's going to taxes on your exam. AICPA puts Tax as about 60% of the exam, SIMS are 40%. No one i know has ever said they've gotten a b-law sim. So with that said, that means majority of tax you see will be from the SIMS, thus majority of your MC should be on b-law and ethics.

i think you should get the idea of b-law then continue on taxes, i'd say similar to AUD that b-law you can least get it right by eliminating answer options that make 0 sense.

For those that haven't taken REG yet…don't be afraid to practice a few SIMs even if you had good luck on other sections without. They are not the same from what I have experienced and have seen them on REG more than once now. They go much more into detail…at least they did for me

    BEC - 82 (GLEIM)
    AUD -85 (GLEIM)
    FAR -75 (GLEIM)
REG - 59, 80 (Gleim + NINJA Audio and NINJA MCQ)
    ETHICS -91

If I didn't study BLaw I would have gotten a 50 on my exam most likely. Study BLaw

    AUD - July 2014 - 76
    REG - August 2014 - 82
    FAR - November 2014 - 78
    BEC - January 2015 - 81

    DONE!!!!

Used Becker online. Who needs a text when you can burn your eyes out staring at the screen for months on end?

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you're hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!"
