I am sitting for the exam in California, planning to do the Pathway 2 licensure route. I have a question regarding the 12-months of general accounting experience that is required under the direct supervision of a CPA with an active license.

Does the CPA under whom the 12-months of general accounting experience is being completed need to have their license active during the entire 12-months, or just at the time of application? I think I know the answer, just wanted to check.

Also, after all sections of the CPA exam are passed, the scores remain valid for 5 years? Thanks.

The supervising CPA must have an active license during the entire 12 months. Otherwise you dont actually have 12 months of experience under an active CPA, you only have a portion of that time under an active CPA.

Not sure about the five years part…check the exam handbook on the cba website….
