Question on Taking Notes

I currently have the Wiley FAR book and am also planning on buying the NINJA MCQ. However I am trying to determine the best way to hand-write notes. I started writing my notes out last night and only got through 7 pages of the book in an hour. At that rate I don’t feel I’ll have nearly enough time before my exam (planning on June 1st). I know I’m probably writing too much but I’m having a hard time differentiating what’s important and what isn’t. Any tips/ideas?

I do flash cards for main areas of each section..i have about 600 in total..

then do 50 mcq a day along with an entire section of videos per day 6 days a week rest on sunday

Best advice would be to push it back til july

Thanks amohr23cubs. I had read that 125 to 150 hours per section and 2 months of studying is the norm…….am I incorrect?

I'd personally read through all the material once first then go back and take notes. There are lots of different opinions though. Yes I'd say between 150-200 hours over 6-8 weeks for far is typical, some people take more or less than that.

I'm using Becker and also taking notes as I go. Each lecture is 3-4 hours, but it takes me 8-9 hours due to continually stopping and taking notes. That said, I do feel that I have been retaining information pretty well, certainly moreso than if I had just watched the videos with no notes.

I started in late March and I am taking FAR in early June, and so far I've finished 4 of 10 Becker sections using this method and finishing all questions and sims. Even though I have two full months of studying, I still feel like I'll be cutting it kind of close using this method, especially given that I'm hoping to block off 1-2 weeks to plow through MCQs with Ninja.
