    Hi All,

I am a CPA candidate who lives in Colorado while sitting for California CPA exam. Recently I passed all four sections and would like to take ethic exam and apply for California license. I don’t have enough experience yet. I might start working as an audit associate later this year in Denver, which will help me obtain enough experience within a year.

I asked CA board whether I can use Denver experience to apply for CA license. They said yes.

I asked CO board whether I can use CA license to practice and signed reports in Denver after I get the CA license. They said no.

    Here is my question:

Since I am planning on move to California in 2 or 3 years, should I apply for CA license directly, or should I transfer my score to Colorado and apply for Colorado license first?

    Thank you so much!

If I were you, I would wait until I have the work experience to even consider your question. Its at least a year before you are eligible to be licensed and a lot of circumstances can change in that year. You may move to CA sooner, or decide you never will in that time frame.

Reciprocity- ask your state board about it.
