Pretty much thread title states it all.

Pass FAR then go to class and learn basic bond issuance journal entires or “what is an internal control”. Waste of my time and money.

I have a job lined up for the fall and I am passing CPA exams, why do I need to deal with this? Just give me the credits/hours and let me be done with this nonsense.

I miss school. It'll be over before you know it! Seriously, though. I was in the same place as you 2 years ago. I wanted to be DONE WITH SCHOOL. Now I wish I could go back. 🙂

Good luck! Just power through and focus on the CPA and how you'll have a job come fall! You're in a great position right now having two exams done. Wish I had done the same!

I agree that having to pick up the extra courses is annoying, but on the plus side when you are done you will be a CPA and have an MAC/MST/MBA after your name as well…which really is something to be proud of!!!

I love it when I'm meeting with a client who is 20+ years older and perhaps thinks I'm more qualified to babysit his kids rather than prepare his year-end accounting and corporate tax returns and the owner of my firm will proudly tell the client “She works here full-time and completed her MAC at night and now she is going through the CPA exam process. She is a very hard worker!” and usually the client responds with something like “wow, you are awfully young to have accomplished all that!” and immediatley starts to take me more seriously! It really is very gratifying and having an advanced degree does give you a leg up on other CPAS!

It was hard work and a TON of BS, I'm with you there, but it will be worth it in the end!!!!!!!!

    Good luck everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Remember those barriers to entry you learned about in bec. 🙂

    #407562

@cparunner, well said. Yeap, those barriers are physical, mental, endurance, educational and on and on. Those that have patience, $$$, luck and other factors tend to make it.

@SeePeeAyy, sorry that your academic experience is below par. Maybe hang in there and tough it out. You are almost there!

@neika, I loved being in school so much that my family often joked if school library did not close for the night, I've might have stayed there up until my classes began next day. Absolutely enjoyed being in school, it gives hope and keeps me from vegging out!

May I suggest you do online classes. They are ridiculously easy. Every tests is open book. Your homework consists of posting something on the discussion board. And since all you need is credit, you have to be a complete

you know what, to fail an online course. Take as many as you need in 1 semester to get your credits up. It is definitely something you can handle while working.

While the best thing to do is get enough credits, class can be expensive so be careful not to over load financially trying to reach the required credit load. Just a thought……

It's only the beginning of things that you'll have to do on a regular basis that is BS. I'd been working full time for over 25 years in accounting and had to do my 150 credits. Because at that point in my life, some group project would teach ME about teamwork. Lol!

All of the states are now moving to the 150/grad including Colorado, which will require it starting July, 2015.
