Realistic study timeline?

After taking FAR on 1/29, I scheduled AUD for 2/28. I figured I would take a day or two off after that. However, that was before I got a job as an accounting clerk. My schedule is 8-4 and I had some issues trying to make myself study after work. However, moving AUD would present its own issues.

    a) March is a blackout month. Waiting an entire month seems a bit much when audit has way less material than FAR.

    b) my NTS expires 4/1

    c) 4/1 is on a weekday. Wednesday is an odd day to be off. I’m already taking 1/29 off and wonder if it’s a bit early in the game to take 2 days off within 2 months.

To move or not to more. That is the question.

    FAR 57 (11/2014), 64 (1/2015), 79 (7/2015)
    AUD 68 (2/2015), 79 (11/2015)
    REG 79 (1/2016)
    BEC 81 (4/2016)

I wouldn't move it. There are only 6 chapters. Do two chapters each week and take a week for final review. Don't drag this out. Buckle down and knock them out quickly.

    FAR: 7/17/14- 79
    AUD: 8/20/14- 91
    REG: 10/1/14- 88
    BEC: 11/10/14- 85

    Don't move.

You could study the AUD material in two weeks if you man up.

If your only commitment is a job that's 8-4, it is realistic to get in 30-35 hours per week of studying and sit for AUD on 2/28.

It is your choice whether you want to study 3-4 hours after work and 6-8 hours each day on the weekend but I think thats what it would take to pass in 4 weeks.

Its not going to get much “easier” to study after work so theres no harm in pushing through and getting it done if you're willing to really commit the hours. If you don't think you can commit to that many hours I don't think you should shoot for Feb 28.

Sounds like a plan. In my experience it is doable, but you know yourself and your study habits better than any strangers in a forum. You already know the right decision.

    FAR- 82
    REG- 93
    AUD- 89
    BEC- 88

You are smarter, more focused, and more brilliant than you give yourself credit for. Believe in yourself and truly know in your heart that you can do it.

It depends on your mental caliber and a bit of luck. I wouldn't be able to study Audit (lowest passing rate) in 25 days and pass it, so I guess is not “doable” for someone like me. This is not about courage it boils down to how much experience you have as as Auditor, and if you dont have any, how fast can you learn new information and put it in practice. I guess for a great % of individuals on this forum passing CPA exam parts in 25 days is not “doable”, I dont see many people becoming CPAs in less than 4 months.

I was in the same boat. I took BEC late August (30th) and then scheduled Audit for October 10. So 5 weeks total. I crammed.. hard and had virtually no social life. I went through all 6 chapters in less than 3 weeks and spent the last 2 weeks doing 30 question progress tests over and over. I barely passed with a 77. I took a week off work to study as well.

It's up to you if you want to reschedule. See where you are with ~3 weeks remaining and see if you're ready. If not, pay the extra to reschedule.

Audit is, primarily, memorization and understanding concepts. It can be done in 4 weeks but I'm not sure I'd want to do it myself.

So, yes, it can be done but you really have to look inward and decide if it's something you can do. You'll need to be putting in 2 to 4 hours every weekday and 6ish each weekend day. If you can accept that, it's doable. If you can't, you're better off delaying until April 1.

If you, absolutely, cannot move it back to April 1 and you don't think you can stick to such a strict study schedule, do your best to get through whatever material you can and just go ahead and take it on Feb 28. You might get lucky (unlikely considering Audit has the lowest passing rate) but at least you'll get an idea of what material is covered on the exam.
