Really stupid question

I tried to look on google, but probably didn’t look hard enough. As my day of studying comes to a close, I was wondering something…

Why is the CPA exam offered in windows? In other words, why is every 3rd month closed? I’m sure there must be a reason. Can someone please give me the gist of the reasoning behind this?

Only reason I’m asking is because I would have loved to take the exam before the holidays, but of course December is a closed month.

I think I saw somewhere that it is for maintenance on the system. I am sure that is the time where they update questions, gather data from the window, etc. It is a pain for a candidate though!!!

I was always just under the impression that the CPA Exam is intentionally designed to be difficult (both the exam itself, and the way that it is administered) in an effort to keep the pool of CPAs from being diluted with uninspired candidates.

    Just a thought 🙂
