Hello Everyone. I recently tested in AUD. I feel pretty confident. I tested 84 on the CPAExcel practice exam and I felt pretty good about the real thing as I were taking it. My question is If I passed should I put that on my resume and will that generate some interest from the larger accounting firms? I have about 6 years of experience in mutual fund accounting and about 10 months experience in partnership taxes. That seemed to generate some attention from PWC a little for positions they have both in D.C. and Minneapolis. The recruiter seemed really eager, but it did not really go anywhere. I would like to get into a Big 4 or some other name brand firm. Would passing a section of the CPA exam generate some new interest before I’ve actually passed all four pieces of the exam?

In my experience…no. They like that you are taking the exam, but that doesnt really draw interest until you finished.

Just my experience though. I'm not sure if anyone else has had something different.

IMHO it's all relative. It depends on if they're looking to hire or pretty much all set but considering candidates who stick out. Depends on how your resume compares to others coming in and depends on if your experience fills a specific need. Won't hurt you to put it there but don't count on it to be a golden ticket.

In my experience, adding to my resume that I had passed both FAR and AUD did result in firms showing more interest in me. Did it result in me getting a job? There is no way to tell but it definitely didn't hurt. It was brought up in both of the interviews I had. The only advice I have is make sure you have a time frame of when you will be taking the other exams. If you are asked a question regarding this and you're not sure how to answer it's not going to look good.
