I’ve devoted the summer to the exam. Passed far and bec. Starting to study reg and I feel like I’m slacking. I’m getting in the 80s on becker progress tests, but don’t feel like I’m working as hard. My concern is that I feel like I’m taking reg lightly. No good. Any study tip to help me be sure I retain? Is wtb something I should have? What should I be sure to focus on?

    As always, thanks another 71

    FAR- 83
    BEC- 85
    REG- 79
    AUD- 91

I watched the business law lectures and then never thought about them again (no review, no MCQ). People might disagree, but put all your time into tax and R5 (ethics/responsibilities)

I felt the slump too on my third section. I think it's just one of those things that happens. You get fatigued.

For REG, definitely focus on tax and ethics. Business law is important to go over once because, well, it's still ~20% of the exam, but it's not what you want to be putting your effort into.

    FAR: May 1st, 2014 - 91
    AUD: May 29th, 2014 - 97!
    BEC: July 16th, 2014 - 91
    REG: August 29th, 2014 - 88

I just took REG, and I have to say Becker MCQ's definitely prepare you enough for the ones on the exam.I only went through their MCQ's twice (once right after lecture, once during review week) and the MCQ's on the exam felt easier. I would just worry about the SIMs. Since you can look through IRC's, try to learn where code sections for certain topics are so that even if you don't know the answers to SIMs, you can look through and find the answers fast enough. (practice MCQs enough, so you can go through them fast during exam and have plenty of time for SIMs)

I had a lot of bus law on my exam. Probably 40% minimum of mcq… Don't leave it out, but conceptually it's just easier to remember than tax so it shouldn't be majority of your time

    AUD - July 2014 - 76
    REG - August 2014 - 82
    FAR - November 2014 - 78
    BEC - January 2015 - 81

    DONE!!!!

Used Becker online. Who needs a text when you can burn your eyes out staring at the screen for months on end?

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you're hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!"

I definitely wish I was one of those people who got all 4 exams done in 4 months, but unfortunately LIFE (being a newlywed, stress, adjusting to newlywed life and cpa exam study life, as well as starting a job with a Big4 which I am very happy about) got in the way, just happy that I am passing period!!

Honestly my experiences was horrible. I kicked ass on the mult. choice but I could not do ONE SIM! Not one! I couldn't even find the damn research question. I just guessed on everything and by the grace of God I passed with a 75 lol. I almost cried of joy. Just goes to show that you can study tons of material and tons of sims but they can still come out of left field because the topics I got were just touched on the surface in my study materials and I had no idea how to do them.

I agree with the above. My approach was to know tax and professional responsibilities as well as possible, toward the end I did what I could to memorize selective parts of business law. It's all about bang for your buck. With that, and I don't recommend this, but due to personal reasons I ended up slacking big time compared to the effort I put into FAR and still got an 83. Once again though…I would definitely think about picking up the slack.

    MBA,CMA,CPA, CFF?, ABV?
