I’m about to study REG very soon for the next Jan/Feb window and just want to make sure one thing before I start.

Since I have a good understanding of individual tax but purely NO idea on corporate,

I’m thinking about get right into it and study R1+R2 after I’m done with R3+R4.

Does anyone think it is absolutely fine or do I absolutely study individual first then go corporate?

(seems like R3+R4 are killer in REG after reading some other threads)

I don't think that'd be an issue. Maybe skim through to pick up on the certain exclusions and rules..

Maybe I'm looking at this wrong, but if you studied R3+R4 first then R1 and R2 then there'd be more time in between the test and you studying R3+R4, so you'd forget more of it?

That's just me. Maybe skip reading the book/lectures for R1 and R2 and just do the MCQ's to make sure you're solid on those chapters, then hit the books for R3 and R4.

I agree with Tuanxn, I would rather study the hard stuff closer to test date so it is fresh. I don't remember many questions on my test from chapter two, maybe 1 or so, but I definitely had probably 3-4 from chapter one. Obviously, a lot of the questions do come from three and four but I wouldn't neglect one and two. Especially a few of the phase outs like on PAL's.

I'm different. I'd rather hit the hard first to “plant the seed”, then hitting it again in my review phase, recapture all the areas that I missed or lacked on. That approach best solidifies the material for me, especially hard material.

You run the risk of not allowing enough time if you you study hard material closer to the exam date. Exposing your weak points right out of the gate is the most efficient use of your time in my opinion.

    Everyone is different though.
