Allen -
I am using Becker materials - the live class. For me, it seems to be working so far, so I think I will continue with it. I am beginning to really struggle to keep my focus though, so I hope to finish REG before it gets much worse. That's good to hear about BEC since I really think that I will suffer from the most distractions while studying for it. I might even just try to take it earlier than I originally scheduled it and try to stay more focused for a shorter period of time instead of trying to focus for a whole month. I am really eager to get this 3rd one over with. Good luck! You are almost finished!
Took Reg today and its my last paper. I am glad i put in the hours and did a lot of disciplined studying. To all tose taking this window, all the best and keep at it. Am taking the Ethics exam next week.

CPA At Last,
I'll be taking REG in 3 weeks and I'm interested to hear some more about your experience. Would you say that the questions required a lot of memorization on requirements/phaseout numbers? Did you have enough time or did you get cut off by the 2nd sim?
bakagal,
I prepared very well for this exam, i studied for about 45 days.I did a lot of multiple choice qeustions (more than 2,000).I made it a point i understood the concepts and why i was getting the answers wrong.I do not believe in memorizing, so was basically understanding the concepts.Allocated and finished testlet-1(35minutes),testlet-2(35minutes),testlet-3(35minutes),simulation-1(35minutes), and simulation-2(35minutes), i finished each and every testlet question, and all the simulation tabs, within the allocated time.I clicked on done with 1 minute to go.
So i did finish the exam.i had time to review each test let before exhausting the 35 minutes i had allocated for each testlet or simulation, basically going back and checking the qns and answers , before moving to the next tab.
For the simulations i was starting with the written communication , then back to the other tabs and lastly the research tab .
Hope this helps in overall time management and acing the exam, i gave it my best short.

Thanks! That definitely helps :) Because although I already took one section, that section was BEC so I've never had any experience with simulations and everyone usually has enough time on BEC anyway.
You got it buddy , today is exactly 12months since i took my first exam last year, and i pray its a charm.Go for it ,
Hey folks. I'm taking REG sometime this window (its tentatively scheduled for 5/28). i will start studying after i take AUD on Saturday. How much time have yall spent studying? I am considering moving REG up and taking BEC right at the end of May since I have nothing to do after May 18th.
I did put in about 150hours in total.
150hrs just for REG? That's crazy talk. I had maybe 30 hours in for BEC. 50 tops for AUD. No way in he!! I'm going 150 on REG. I'm not sure I could even find that amount of time.
KC that is what i'm thinking too. I am taking AUD on Saturday and only studied 60-70 hours. I didn't even study 150 for FAR, so I definitely don't think I need that many hours for REG.
When u guys say 50 hrs are you counting the lecture hours? cause that alone takes from 4-5 hours per chapter!
Guys its not being crazy the fact i studied 150 hours on REG, i was basically doing as many questions as i can , so please do not dispute it, we are all different, but i think it did help me in a way because most of the staff i got on the exam i amassed during the 150 hour study, and i do not regret it.i was putting in an average of 3hours a day for a straight 45 days, so guys you do the math.

dont worry CPA at last, i studied for a whole month from 5-8 hours a day too! (including lectures)
if I dont feel like I know and understand everything i wont be confident on exam day and that could hurt my score, better safe than sorry! :D
whereismyscore
That's what am talking about, its all about self-satisfaction, i have worked hard for this, and will always look back , it was not given to me on a silver plate, had to work for it.
i agree with you guys. i put in probably around 200 for FAR and a little less for AUD, but still way over 100 hours. I put it probably 6-7 hours per day and it consumed my life, but I would much rather put in the time for each one time, rather than half as much and end up failing, only to probably spend even more time studying for the exam again. unfortunately, i know people in my classes that have had that happen to them over the past couple of months. i am in the middle of studying for REG and know that I will have to probably put in that many hours again, especially because i find tax to be more difficult and my level of focus is starting to drop. better now i think than spending the warm, sunny days of summer studying. even if i do end up failing, i at least want to be able to go into the test thinking that i have done everything i can to give myself the best shot of passing. it's costly to have to continue retaking sections, so that is some motivation too.
"but i think it did help me in a way"
LOL I would think studying for 150 hours for REG would in fact help you!
Everyone is different. Some people need to study more than others. No big deal. The main thing is getting the tests passed!!!
It's getting down to cram time now. Less than 20 hours until I take the test...
I'm kind of scared because this could be the last test I have to take (ethics aside).
Im taking the exam tomorrow too!! im just reviewing everything now and making sure I wont forget the little details!!
Good Luck AllenA!!!
Thank! Good luck to you, too! This test seems extremely challenging to me. There is so much stuff to memorize. I can't wait to be done tomorrow.
To all taking the exam tomorrow , all the best , you will do fine ,your fruits of your hard work are coming around.

I'm headed off to take the exam right now. I studied for about 80 hours over the last four weeks. Hopefully that will be enough to get me by.
Good luck to everyone else taking the test in the next window. I'll let you know how the test went sometime later this weekend.
Wow. I'm done (score still pending). The test was pretty rough, especially the simulations. I can't really remember if the testlets got harder or easier. They all kind of seemed the same.
Now it's time to wait for six weeks to see if I need to start studying again...
AllenA,
Took mine 04/01, we in the long wait together, am writting the ethics exam at the end of the month , and this was my last paper too.

i got out of the exam feeling the exact same way as you. I took FAR recently and I feel like i was way more confident answering the questions, many questions in this test were of stuff ive never even hear of in the Becker books. And one of my simulations was about something that i never heard of before either so I completely guessed! Im really hoping theres a curve and that whoever corrects my exam is on a really good mood that day!! Im so frustrated!!
pls jeff and other users, which is best test date for reg? is it apil ending or may beginning?????????????
Elsie,
Best day for a test? That's kind of a rhetorical question. I'd have to say the best day is the day after the test. Just kidding.
In my opinion, the "best" time to take a test would be one of the first days of the second window, which would be May 1-6. The only reason I say this is because you have a minimal wait time between when you take your test and when you get your results. If you take it before the close of the first window (approximately May 7th) then you only need to wait about a week and a half to get your score back. I took it last Saturday and need to wait roughly 8 weeks before my score is released.
That's just my opinion on a "best" testing day.
I try and take my tests on the last day of the window. Primarily for the reason Allen mentioned above. Also, I'm lazy a procrastinator when it comes to studying so I need the leeway in my study schedule. I only take one test in a test window so that helps.
I had my REG test this AM; it was pretty darn difficult. I hope I passed; it's my last section...
I took REC this morning. The exam was tough... plus I had to stop the exam twice...
The first time was when I got to the research tab of my first simulation. It showed ERROR with some kind of connection problem. I had to sign out and waited while the staff was working on the problem. It took almost an hour for them to get the problem fixed. I went back and continued the exam. My clock was short of 10 minutes or so, but the only thing I care at the moment was how little time I had left.
When I just got to the second simulation, my computer freeze and then it shut down. This time was not just me, everyone in the lab was experiencing the same thing. I had to sign out again and waited for another 20 minutes this time. I don't know what the problem was but they had to reboot everyone's computer and retrieve the exams. Then I signed back in. While I was trying to finish up the test, people were coming in and out the lab because of the technical problem earlier. It was very distractive.
I lost some while because they didn't stop my exam right after the problem occurred. I was very upset. I talked to the staff to see if they would reimburse me for the exam because I am sure I will have to retake it. I thought I did fine on the MCQ but I couldn't finish my second simulation because of all the computer problems. The staff told me that they cannot reimburse me because I finished the test. If I stopped in the middle of the exam, they could have reschedule me the same test on the next window. I am very very upset. The reason that I took it today was because today is the last day I can take it; it will expire otherwise. I felt like I wasted the past 6 weeks studying like crazy while working 50+ hours. sigh... this is totally not what I expected.
