I think it was 24 per testlet for REG

I think it was 24 per testlet for REG
Thank You Zena... I was worried that there are 30 Q each plus 2 sims :)
now 2nd qustion... how much time do you think I should spend on sims ??? It took me a lot of time to do FAR sims and AUD sims I was able to complete quick
u need a lot of time for the reg sims
I agree, you need a significant amount of time. Personally, I budgeted 45 minutes for each one and didn't feel like I had any excess time.
I took the exam today. I have been studying since December using Becker. I went through the homework MCQs 5-6X, re-read the book, took notes on all problem areas, reviewed flashcards and took the 2 Final Exams and still, I left the exam completely dumbfounded. I did well on 1st testlet since the 2nd testlet was super hard but didn't do well on that one since the 3rd testlet got easier again (I knew most of the questions in that testlet though). I didn't keep track of time well since once I got to the simulations I had less than 1 hour. I only filled out one tab and the communication in the 1st sim and only the communication in the 2nd sim. I am praying that I passed but not so sure....
BEC - PASSED, FAR - PASSED, AUD - PASSED, REG - 2/16, ETHICS - PASSED
so what's the latest prediction for the Wave 1 Reg release? Is there a chance that it could be at the end of this week still? Or are we gunna have to wait another weekend?!
I don't know, but I wouldn't hold my breath for this week still. Is looking more and more like AUD/REG will be coming next week (from NASBA anyway).
any hope for the AICPA? I'm in CA...
readygang - if your name is in reference to Tim Gearty, it's just plain genius. Regardless of whether that was your intent with it, I almost spit out my soda when I saw it.
There's someone named "OkayGang" on here that cracks me up whenever I see it.
CPAWannaBe - AHAHAHAHAHA....I haven't seen "OkayGang"....that's great!
Jeff "I would only memorize the 179 deduction and phaseout limits for 2009...they don't test on the rest because they can't keep the test bank updated for quantitative tax changes"
I didn't understand it. I wanted to ask whether i need to memorize the phase put limits for the exam.
Thanks
Hi rsanchez, believe me, I feel the same way!!! I studied for nine weeks - hardly ever took a day off, did all of the Becker questions twice and was just frustrated after taking REG last weekend! It was very difficult and Becker did not prepare me as good for this exam as for BEC. I realize that there is a good portion of luck involved regarding the questions that you get, but this exam was a beast. I just hope I will make it and the nine weeks of studying will pay off. It is very frustrating! Good luck to you!
Thank you Alex, hopefully we both passed!
can anyone plz help me with phase out limits...do we need to memorize them for exam?
Not sure if anyone knows the answer to this but if you have more difficult MCQs in the exam, if u do well does it mean that you will have more difficult sims? Or are the sims already picked out before you even start to answer questions?
BEC - passed, FAR - passed, AUD - passed, REG - 2/16 praying I passed.., ETHICS - passed
The only Phase out that I considered memorizing was for section 179 (when you can't take the 179 deduction anymore because you added too much in $$ assets)
The other phase outs (income limitations, etc) are not tested numerically, but theoretically. If that makes sense.
REG tomorrow, and somehow I have completely forgotten the CARES and the SUPORT thing for dependency exemptions. How does that happen!?! Guess I know what Ill be looking over tonight! Good luck to everyone who is about to get their scores back and to those sitting in the next few weeks!
rsanchez - The simulations are not adaptive based on the multiple choice questions. Another words it is not true that the better on the multiple choice questions you do, the harder the simulations will be. There is no correlation of difficulty between the multiple choice questions and simulations.
Does AICPA/NASBA release scores on weekends?
Scores aren't released on weekends by the AICPA or NASBA...if the AICPA releases on a Friday...I've seen CA release on a Saturday (indie state).
Any idea if the AICPA might still release REG tonight? I'm dying to know!
No word on the 2nd release...still waiting.
zzzzzzzzzzz
Does anyone know how the wave 2 score release will be affected by the march test dates?
SSGG, I'll just throw my opinion in as well. It matches almost_there's statement. Know the dollar amounts and phase-outs for section 179 stuff. It is worth the 3-5 minutes it will take on that.
The other phase-outs are not really an issue. For everything aside from the section 179 stuff the amount you will probably see is either obviously above or obviously below the threshold amounts (or you'll be given the threshold amounts). Know which items have phase-outs but don't worry about trying to memorize what they are.
I think the test is really designed to test your knowledge of the concepts rather than any specific number cruching (generally anyhow).
"I think the test is really designed to test your knowledge of the concepts rather than any specific number cruching (generally anyhow)."
Agree. I took it in January.
so is it looking like reg wave 1 will be released early next week?
Even if the AICPA releases today we won't see them until next week. With my luck I'll have to wait until Thursday just to find out I got bumped to Wave 2 just in time to take the next test on Friday.
The way these scores are handed out need to be addressed. There needs to be a better way. This 'wave' stuff is just not logical.
