    All,

Understood that all sections are important for the exam, but I was wondering if there were any specific areas where people who passed focused the majority of their preparation on?

    Thanks

Do a little searching here there is TONS of info on this topic. Also, do a little reading on the experience threads, although take them with a grain of salt as people tend to be a bit on the negative side fresh out of an exam.

With that, this is an extremely hard question to answer and greatly depends on your background and prep. I put the most effort into FAR but the actual exam was pretty managable (perhaps dup to all my prep?). BEC was right in my strength alley having been in cost accounting, corporate finance and a finance/econ undergraduate degree. REG was alien to me and didn't prep nearly as much as FAR but again..found managable on exam day (lucky exam draw perhaps?). AUD to me was by far the most difficult because I'm a numbers, not a language person. I also have had no background at all and didn't prep nearly enough. I passed…and grateful I did but would not recommend people take AUD lightly and

especially not without a solid education/experience background in it..

Thanks for the info – I'll definitely take a look around some of the other threads and see what I can find.

Oh my appologies! I thought you were asking about sections of the CPA exam. I misread the title. As for any part, I would focus my efforts on a combination of what you are testing weakest in and what is strongest weighting on the exam. I will say this, as a ratio of material to weighting, I focused mainly on tax and just did my best with remaining time to cover business law. My thoughts were, business law just won't show up on a Sim and it was just too much material for the measley weighting. I decided to focus mostly on the portions of business law that were directly related to the financial statements and I did ok. Not to say your exam won't have a ton of common law in it…but that was my approach…

Definitely know tax inside and out. DO NOT just gloss over S Corps/Partnerships. Make sure to know the details of them.

As far as business law, I felt the questions were a lot more straight forward on the actual exam vs the Becker MCQs (which is typical).
