Took REG today 11.14.09, wondering what the wave 2 predictions are?
gatorj,
im taking REGS in less than 2 weeks..do you have any advice or study tips?
they're coming...I'll let Wave 1 go first...I suck @ Wave 2 anyway :)
I wasnt as strapped for time as I thought I would be. The sims were tough and time consuming, but I only had 24 mc ques per testlet. I dont know why, Ive always had 30 ques on every other exam. The exam really coverd a little bit of every topic. It didnt focus on any one thing in particular. You need to know basis stuff for c corps and partnerships for sure. Also itemizations and amt. The old cpa questions helped me quite a bit, but at this point I dont even know if I passed. Good luck with your test
gatorj - REG only has 72 multiple choice questions total! that's why the exam is only 3 hours as opposed to AUD's 4 1/2 hours. I take REG 11/30...waiting on AUD score, took that 10/14/09!! I should know by tomorrow or Tuesday...
MPoni123 - Good to know! I am taking it tomorrow and I didn't catch the 24MC/testlet. I was still thinking 30.
I am just hoping they are out before Christmas so I can enjoy my time off (or cry in my beer throughout it). Either way I won't be wondering!
Atrus,
Will be interested to hear what you think about the exam tomorrow. I feel like I might have passed which is better than I normally feel. I was sure I failed FAR and I got an 84 on that, so maybe I got through REG?
Good luck Atrus!!
Thanks - took it this morning and....wow...I just don't know.
My problem was that there was SO MUCH material, and it seemed all over the place when I was reviewing. I'd get to so many questions on the test and know that I had done it, but couldn't remember the rules. I could even picture the page it was on!
My sims were a little wierd too. Some of the tabs, I couldn't really follow what they wanted.
I really feel like I didn't do well. Hopefully I am proven wrong. That's the thing, you just never know.
I've gotten a ton of calls from family today asking how it went. I truly appreciate their concern, interest, and support, but how do you answer? They really just don't understand.
I just say "Dont know, could go either way". Or you can attempt to explain how the test is not graded on a traditional "percentage correct" scheme and how you get points depending on the difficulty of the questions which are determined based on adaptive pychometric performance on prior testlets and that 10-15% of the questions do not count towards your score.
I feel about the same way you do. I had testlet tabs that I spent 20 minutes figuring out what they were asking before attempting to answer it. The frustrating thing is that tab was probably one of those pretest deals. All you can do is move on to the next test. If this was your last test, like me, just forget about the whole until Jeff finally annouces the release dates!
Atrus - I took my test on Saturday. I thought it was VERY difficult. So many details and so much information and not enough time. :(
Took REG on Saturday, multiple choice weren't bad, simulations were near impossible. So I wonder how that's gonna turn out. Now I'm waiting on AUD and REG, and just started studying BEC today, absolutely wonderful. Is it mid-December yet?
Hey all.. new to this site.. took REG today, MC weren't bad but I think I took way too long on them because I only had about 40 min for both sims..
I noticed everyone feels the same. "MCs were kind of tough but the sims were very hard"
I also noticed that people that post on this forum tend to pass at like an 85% rate. I knew I bombed FAR, then I got my score...84. I have hope that I passed REG and so should you all. Just try not to think about it for two weeks, then start refreshing the NASBA website when Jeff says go.
yeah; it is a hard test; I never passed with a crap sim; but then I got two easy ones and passed with extra points; not fair in my book.........
I hated it so much; but now I hate FAR
B A R F..........in order of hard to hardest
Well, at least I'm not the only one feeling like this. I felt the MC weren't that bad, either. However, the SIMS may have been the end of me. I had alot of "fill-in blank" sim questions, rather than selection type. I'm sure hoping I passed, especially since it's my last part. Here's to wishing everyone a passing score and a Merry Christmas!
Eric_In_Texas,
I feel the same way. The M.C. weren't bad and didn't seem to get any harder, though there were a few I didn't know the answer to. I had all fill-in-the-blanks on my simulations this time... no selection types at all... The sims were brutal. I am just hoping that I did well enough on the sims to pass as this is also my last section I have left to pass. It's also my 4th time taking it and I want to move on with my life.
EliotinMA,
Believe me, I am feeling exactly the same way. I want to move on with my life also. Best of Luck!
First time poster here. I took REG on Nov 23, so I'm in wave 2 with you guys. This was my most frustrating exam. Before the exam, I spent time updating myself on the latest tax changes; therefore, serious doubt was cast on one of my MCQs, as I didn't know if it expected me to answer using recent changes or not. In addition, I killed a lot of time trying to understand how I was supposed to answer one of the simulation tabs, since the instructions weren't clear. My time management for REG ended up being different (below) than Jeff's outline here: http://www.another71.com/cpa-exam-time-management.html
Testlet 1: 30 minutes
Testlet 2: 31 minutes
>Break 3 min<
Testlet 3: 43 minutes
Simulation 1: 38 minutes
Simulation 2: 35 minutes
I wasn't able to finish the exam, as my time expired. However, I am not sure if more time would have improved my score.
BEC 78
AUD 84
REG ??
FAR in 2010
I would recommend being even more cognizant of timing when you take FAR. That was the hardest for me time wise. Good Luck!
Thanks for the tip, gatorj. I'm trying to adamantly study for FAR right now.
In my Audit exam, I had plenty of time on the simulations to use the research tab to read up on topics I did not know, so I could better answer the other simulation tabs and the written section. However, with Regulation, I did not have enough time to use the research tab in this way and I am not sure what to expect with FAR.
All I want for christmas is for everyone to get a 75 on the reg test. Oh and world peace would be neat also.
Should get scores this week??
