Not Sure how much time I need to spend on BIZ LAW. I studied Becker Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 5, but there are 3 more chapters on BIZ LAW. My score report stated I did comparable on BIZ LAW. Any suggestions on how much time to spend on these 3 biz law sections? it should be noted I only scored weaker on sections 3 and 4 (corp tax and Property exchanges which I have not yet “restudied”) Can i take the test on 3-14? any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Freaking out

Don't skimp on Blaw, but I would focus on tax and prop transactions, as they seem to be heavily tested.

The earliest you could sit would be April 1st. March is a “dead” month.

I am spending 6 weeks on a retake (attempt #4). I think 6 weeks full-time is too much (April 11th exam date). I am ready to take it today. I have memorized Blaw and Ethics at this point. I think your problem is tax as well, so focus on those topics. I think I could have passed on the second try if I focused on tax topics including C Corps, S Corps, and Property Transactions.

Just do lots of MCQs for Blaw/Ethics. Most of it is intuitive and can be learned through the MCQs. But I would get on the weaker topics today, or reschedule…

    Good luck.

I got a 74 in Q4 2014 and was “weaker” in corporate taxation and business law. I studied business law really hard for my re-take and it worked, I passed in Q1 2015, but I think I got a little bit lucky. I shouldn't have ignored the other topics – it's easier to forget all the little rules in individual taxation. Don't neglect any area, but focus on those two topics you were weaker on.

@last chance Nice. I sit on April 3rd. I feel prepared…then some days I don't. I think it's the nature of the beast. It's going to be a long wait for scores though!

@Gabe – Right before Hawaii too for me. It will either be a great vacation or a vacation filled with thoughts. I would have one more chance at REG before FAR expires in July, and then it's goodbye to the CPA.

For my REG retake, I focused mainly on the Tax chapters. I only re-read the Business Law chapters once. However, I don't know why, but I remembered a lot of the BLaw stuff from college. It was very logical for me. If you aren't comfortable with it, I wouldn't skip it.

What I learned from taking this exam is to fully study each topic at least once, even if you already feel comfortable with a certain topic. You can still learn a few more facts that might get you an extra point or two on the exam.
