REG is my last exam. I already received a 66 and 62. I feel the SIMS are impossible because you have enter numbers mostly (no drop-downs). And if you get the first number wrong, then you are screwed!!!

How do you study for REG SIMs???

    AUD - 75
    BEC - 75
    FAR - 76
    REG - 76
I want those initials next to my name!!!!

    FAR - 76
    AUD - 75
    BEC - 75
    REG - 76

Now I need some experience!!! And some networking...

I feel your pain, I failed last time because I preformed weaker on the SIMs. I think its hard to prepare for them, I just make sure I'm comfortable with the material. I have my retake tomorrow!

    AUD 2/25/14 - 82
    BEC 4/14/14 - 82
    REG 7/5/14 - 66, 80 (11/30/14)
    FAR 10/13/14 - 76
    ETHICS - PASSED
    EXPERIENCE - DONE

How did you guys do on the MCQs? I am curious as to whether or not you can pass being weaker on the SIMS.

It really depends on your test. I didn't have any that depended on the prior number to the point that both would be wrong if you got the first wrong. I had drop downs and a LOT of room for partial credit. I actually felt my SIMS were easier than my MCQ yesterday. If you know your material pretty well and can look at a SIM and determine what area of the IRC it would be referring to then you can use the AL to search for help with how to answer the question. It's such a luck of the draw. My first take, the SIMS were insane and using the AL didn't help at all. I got a 69 on that test, but I was really underprepared walking into the exam and did poor on my MCQ as well. Knowing the material goes a long way towards understanding the SIMS and towards knowing keywords to help you search for answers in the AL. It's really sad when you're on the way to the exam praying, “Please give me easy SIMS” over and over. This test is not uniform at all.

@bcarmi–even if you ace the MCQ and get the full 60% on them, you still have to pull at least 15% from the SIMS to pass. I think if you are prepared enough to get perfect on the MCQ, then you will do well on the SIMS just from knowing all the MCQ info and key terms, etc. My first take (69) I was weaker in MCQ and SIMS and by topic I was only stronger on individual and comparable on blaw. I was weaker in every other topic. It made a huge difference to not know so much of the material before the exam. I was lost when I got to the SIMS and in some of them I couldn't even figure out what they were asking. My test yesterday was the opposite. I knew enough of the material to at least be familiar with the topics to search the AL for help.

Regtaker-I asked because I felt I hit a homerun with the MCQs but got some obscured SIMS. I even got one that was covered with one page and not emphasized in Becker, looked it up after the exam. I had one drop down and using the AL was not an option. I was actually pissed when doing them because I felt really prepared. I feel like if I pass it will be close.

Did you have any SIMS that you knew 100% or were they all weird like that?

Just took REG today…. I completely feel your pain. There were two SIMs that I am sure I got correctly but the rest of them were fill in the blank with multiple concepts. If you make one minor mistake, the box is incorrect. I walked out of that test feeling completely discouraged. My last testlet seemed way too easy, which I have always heard is a negative thing. Best of luck to you!

    I got a 66 and then a 62.

1st test – Weaker on everything except stronger on Ethics. 66

2nd test – Weaker on everything except stronger on Ethics and comparable on Blaw and Property Trans. 62

    How does that happen???

I am so done with the CPA. Last chance…CPA

    AUD - 75

    REG - 76

I know how everyone feels! My SIMS were very difficult. Out of the 6 SIMS, the research was fine, and I had another whole SIM that needed to use the AL. It even told me to. I can certainly assume that was a pre-test, as of course I believe I got that right too. How do you know which one is a pre-test? The other SIMS were barely covered in Becker, and were all fill in the blanks. Score release can't come soon enough.

The SIMS did me in I am sure. Got a 66. Oh Well, back to the drawing board.
