REG Simulations

Oh my goodness, I just attempted the Becker REG simulations for R1 — it was awful. How do people actually do this? I tried to use the authoritative literature, but I can’t figure out how to search through it properly. I didn’t have any problems searching for the other exams, so I am a little unsettled.

Does anyone have any tips on getting through the regulation simulations?

Pray…pray very hard…I realize this isn't very helpful advice but I was completely blindsided by my sims. I actually wish I had brought protection because I got totally screwed by REG.

LOL but you passed! That is helpful because it makes me feel a little better about it. Thanks!

There's no way around the brutality of the REG SIMS unless you're one of the lucky few who get ones that are tough but fair. I recommend doing as many MCQ as possible to really solidify the material in your mind. Do enough SIMS that you're comfortable with the formats you're likely to see, but focus on MCQ. It's not that the practice SIMS are bad, but MCQ are a more effective use of your time because it's extremely unlikely you'll see anything on the exam similar to the practice SIMS. I did the following for the exam itself:

–allowed 1 1/2 hours for the SIMS

–quickly read thru the SIMS before I started any of them – this way I ensured that I had time to work on the ones that I felt most confident about and I could spend whatever time left on the ones that I was really unsure about

–primarily used the table of contents rather than a boolean search when using the research tab. You're right that the IRC isn't easy to use. Sometimes a boolean search is OK, but I either end up with 0 or a million choices.

    AUD 4/15/11 - 85
    REG 4/29/11 - 80
    BEC 5/13/11 - 85
