REG – Simulations

I just got done taking REG and I thought the sims were super difficult and really weird the way the information was presented. I know that’s pretty typical of a sim, but I felt like they went way more in depth than anything I’ve seen and had so many intricacies. My multiple choice questions all went fairly well, but the sims were absolutely killer. Has anyone that’s taken REG within the past couple weeks thought this?

@smz337: i have a question for you actually (since im taking REG tomorrow) i guess this is a borderline question though, but did u see anything with them expecting you to know the updated numbers? like $14k instead of $13k for gift tax, $3900 personal exemption, 10% agi instead of 7.5% agi for med exp. or did they give the limits they wanted

    BEC - 5/2012 - 79
    AUD - 10/2012 - 77
    REG - 7/2013 - ???
    FAR - 12/2012 - 80

@smz337 For me, it was the exact opposite. I didn't find the sims to be bad, but my multiple choice was awful. Everyone else on here has said that their sims were awful, though. Don't sweat it too much! I know it's tough not to think about the exam, but worrying won't make any difference. Take the rest of the day off and enjoy it. You've deserved it!

@rockrlz87 Don't worry about numbers that are indexed for inflation (exemptions, gift taxes, etc.). Personally, I would know the change to 10% of AGI for medical expenses. If you search around on here, there are multiple threads where we have discussed what is and is not important to know.

@smz337 what did you use to prepare?

In the REG Experience thread, most people were saying the sims were very difficult, so it sounds like you're in the majority.

    FAR - 97 (Dec '13)

@rache1 I used CPA Excel and studied for about 100 hours. I thought I had a really good handle on everything but the sims really expanded the scope of what the course covered, plus they were all really abstract. Not a lot of content I expected to see like basis calculations, contributions/distributions, LKEs, etc.

I took the exam about 12 hours ago today. MCQs were not easy but manageable, but SIMS were just insanely crazy. They were definitely the hardest Sims I ever had on my actual exams. I almost even know for sure which one was the pre-test because it was simply undoable lol

    FAR 11/23/12 78!!!
    AUD 2/2/13 77!!!
    BEC 5/25/13 85!!!
    REG 7/15/13 83!!!

    AFTER NINE MONTHS I'M DONE!
