Plan to take Reg first week of April. Will be here on this forum from March 11 onward. For now I tackle Aud. Plan to get familiar with the first 3 chapters of Aud before I switch to Reg.

I am using Becker all the way and Ninja notes for Reg. Not sure if I shld invest in ninja notes/audio for Aud

    From Wiley TB

Question: Ritz hired West for 6 months as an assistant sales manager at $3000 a month plus 4% of sales. Which of the following is correct?

Wrong Answer: West can be dismissed by Ritz during the 6 months only for cause.

Explanation: This answer is incorrect. In all agency relationships, except agencies coupled with an interest, the principal always has the power to dismiss the agent. However, the principal does not necessarily have the right to terminate the relationship. In certain situations the dismissed agent could sue for breach of contract.

My response: Like you said, this is not an agency coupled with an interest. The principal ALWAYS has the power to dismiss the agent. So what the explanation is saying is that “dismiss” means the same thing as “terminate?” As for the last sentence goes, the agent could sue, yes, but that doesn't mean the principal can't dismiss the agent right? So just because “the agent can sue” means “principal can't dismiss the agent?” I don't get it.

I get why the other answer is correct, but I don't see why this answer isn't also correct.

    FAR - 62 (10/2/13), 50 (5/30/14)
    AUD - 73 (10/30/13), 66 (5/6/14)
    REG - 69 (4/8/14)
    BEC - 66 (2/27/13), 73 (4/21/14)

My husband just got addicted to house of cards. I watched the pilot and was not too excited about it so decided to pass on it. I already have too many shows. Besides, we watched the pilot of breaking bad like a month ago and apparently there are 5 seasons! We have some major catching up to do with that one.

    BEC: 73, 81
    AUD: 85
    FAR: 71, 77
    REG: 74, 75...finally DONE! šŸ˜€

*This is my 2nd attempt at the CPA exam. For all of you who have failed this exam many times, given up on it, or taken a break like me, remember that it is still possible to finish what you started...failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently šŸ™‚

@Amay..I hv too many shows too. Sigh! an hv no time to watch them all. I try to get a show in while I workout every night. hopefully once this CPA journey is over we can watch all the shows to our hearts content.

@calesn, sounds like a good plan. I am focusing on Audit till Mar 11 and will pick up Reg from Mar 12 onwards till I take Reg in April.

How do you guys read this question it confused me a little, although I got the answer correct'

I can see the that the concept here is gift splitting, but the way they word the question

“Mr. and Mrs. Roberto Hamrick own considerable investments in marketable securities. During Year One, they give a portion of these investments worth $16,000 to Mrs. Jane Sanderson, Mrs. Hamrick's sister. The shares had originally cost $13,000. In connection with the determination of any applicable gift tax, what amount is taxable?”

Hmm interesting question. The basis should be the rollover basis of $13K to the sis in law. The taxable amount would be zero.

    What are the answer choices?

Hopefully I'll get to join this group! I am going to start studying REG tomorrow, but if I don't pass audit, I will put the audit retake on April 7th instead of taking REG that day. I am using WTB. I used Becker for FAR, but only had it for that section, so I'm using WTB for the other 3. Happy studying everyone!

    FAR 82
    REG 76
    BEC 71, 78 (There is a light!!!)
    AUD 69, 83 (DONE!!!!)

Seems like the R3 lecture on Becker is going to give me some problems. Most of it makes sense to me, but the MCQ seem like they'll be really challenging on the exam. Lots of things to remember for Reg.
