    I’ve had a few requests for April/May Study Groups…March will be here before you know it.

    In order to take an early April exam, you should begin studying…now. šŸ™‚

    AUD - 79
    BEC - 80
    FAR - 76
    REG - 92

    @CPA Soon: I get what you saying. The exam covers 2012 laws until May, and then the 2013 laws (2014 materials) become testable. I guess it's just hard for me to believe they would not be testing current laws yet.

    EDIT – Thanks for the second response. That cleared it up for me.

    Ya I don't know why it is that way but I am sure Becker notes those areas where something has changed.

    FAR - 71, 68, 74, (8/31/14) 78 āœ”
    REG - 67, 71, 71, (10/18/14) 78 āœ”
    BEC - (11/29/14) 86 āœ”
    AUD - 73, (4/4/15) 86 āœ”

    I can't believe this is over! 2 years and 3 months..

    Hi guys! Long time lurker here, but I finally signed up for an account and plan on spending any free time I have utilizing this thread, as REG is my last section. I took it back in Feb 2012 and passed on my first try. But thanks to failing BEC 4 times and working crazy hours at work, it expired. I've been studying steadily since January 2012 for this exam and am ready to move on with my life. I took a one month leave of absence to study for REG and plan on testing mid-April.

    I noticed some posts above that the 2012 tax numbers will be tested this quarter. I am confused as to whether this is true or not. I remember reading a post by Jeff last summer that the 2013 tax numbers will be tested in the 1st and 2nd Quarters of 2014. I may be wrong, though.

    So if I'm using Becker, should I study using the 2013 questions/lecture? I've been going through the 2014 lecture and updating all the pages in my book as I go along. Any clarification would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Edit: This is the thread I'm referring to

    Hi, guys

    I failed REG too many times (too embarrassing to tell you all how many times I failed), this time, I am still using 2013 Becker also supplement with 2013 Roger. I am surprised Roger actually using Wiley online test bank.

    I really want to get REG done in May, so, how to use these two materials wisely? Should I study Becker & Roger textbooks and do all the homework (it might be too much) or just focus on studying Becker textbook and supplement Wiley homework.

    Please kindly give me some advise, I am hoping I can start adding my passing score like you all

    REG - 70. Retake on 5/30/14

    @finishorgiveup….don't be embarrassed…this is my 3rd time too…and i am sure there will be many like me here…

    I have Becker and wiley TB … i complete all the mcqs in becker atleast 2 times…then check my knowledge on wiley mcqs… if I do bad on some topic i go to youtube and watch videos and then try them again….

    I lost both times due to weak sims…so considering buying Gleim sims wizard…why did u lose this exam…was it sims or mcqs….which topics are u weak at…consider that …then study and keep posting ur progress on A71 …to keep urself motivated…

    ….i need motivation to study too …hope we will be able to help each other… šŸ™‚

    @Qlad

    After I saw my score and noticed my weak areas, then I'll just focus on my weak areas most – however, after more than 4 times fails, I finally realized something's wrong with my study habits.

    I think I'll focus on Becker textbook and keep working on homework and Wiley TB, I didn't do well on simulations, that's another parts that I need keep practice.

    Let's keep in touch and hopefully we can finish this REG together. šŸ™‚

    Well everyone I am posting in hopes of getting some encouragement. I am taking REG in April have been diligent about studying and taking advantage of down time at work to study. I was really motivated until I recently got my AUD score back. I got a 72 after taking before and getting a 71. I am just feeling defeated and disappointed right now. I know that the only thing to do is keep chugging along. I have decided to put AUD and tackle REG and BEC before my NTS expires (I already passed FAR). I just am trying to figure out somehow to get myself amped up again and put my doubts away. Anyone have some suggestions?

    I said a little over two weeks ago that I am going to start reviewing REG. Unfortunately, I still haven't started (procrastinating)! Though I am still looking at taking the exam on the last week of April. šŸ™

    I find myself hard to concentrate on study, maybe because it's spring break. I haven't apply new NTS for REG and FAR yet. My plan is to finish R1 and R2 by Sunday, but I only finished R1 lecture. Anyway, good luck study, everyone.

    I Can Do This!!!!!

    BEC: 89
    AUD: 99
    REG: 93
    FAR: 8/2/2014

    Traditional IRA = Benefit today (Deductible) => Taxable tomorrow (also traditional IRA means “TRADITIONAL TAX).

    * Withdrawals are fully taxable.

    * AGI on the tax return exceeds a threshold amt: $69K for SINGLE and $115K for MFJ

    * Even @ the age of 70 is possible to contribute.

    ROTH IRA = No benefit today (Non-deductible) => Not Taxable tomorrow.

    * Withdrawals after the age of 59.5 are exempt from tax.

    * Contributions may not available if AGI exceeds $127K for SINGLE and $188K for MFJ

    FOR BOTH PLANS:

    * Withdrawals from either type of IRA prior to the age of 59.5 may result in a TAX PENALTY of 10% of the amount withdrawn.

    * Penalty does NOT APPLY, when payments of medical expenses exceeding 7.5% of AGI (> or = age of 65) & Payments of qualified higher education costs.

    General Rule: If it's tax-deductible going into the IRA, then It's taxable when you withdraw it. And if it's taxable going in (ie: not deductible) it's tax free coming out.

    The earning generated from the IRA always accumulate tax-free:

    Four Types:

    Traditional Deductible IRA: Deductible going in; Principal and Interest taxable coming out

    Roth IRA: NOT deductible going in; Principal and Interest tax-free coming out

    Non-Deductible IRA: Not deductible going in; Principal not taxable coming out, but interest is taxable coming out

    Coverdell Education Fund: not deductible going in, tax-free coming out

    Contributions limit:

    Single = $5500 per year | Single (age 50+) = $6500 per year

    MFJ = $11000 per year | MFJ (age 50+) = $13000 per year

    I am also working on it. This is so confusing topic for me.

    If I missed something, please correct it.
