@mama, I know every test is different, but the two REG tests that I've taken already, didn't require me to know threshholds (there may have been 3 questions max). I'm trying to master the sims since my score reports keep telling me I'm weaker in sims.

I haven't gone through all of the Ninja MCQ, but I have gone through every Wiley question (tax & blaw). I don't struggle with blaw like I do tax, so tax sims will be the focus for now…..but I will get around to doing every Ninja question before I sit again next month.

@CPA–Thanks for that. I'm going through the Ninja MCQ thoroughly in lieu of reading a book or watching lectures and I'm just thinking that I'll never get to 80% on the tax topics because the questions are so detailed with amount memorization. I'm saving the SIMS for my review after I've nailed down the concepts through the MCQ. Good luck on the SIMS! You're so close that I know you'll kill this exam in Q3.

Thanks mamabear! I'm anxiously awaiting my first pass.

I've worked 26 of the 69 Ninja sims which averages to a 78……that's not good. I guess Simulation Sunday will turn into More sims Monday šŸ™

I'm taking a much needed break for a few hours. Happy studying all!

I tried the demo audio and it seemed to help quite a bit with individual tax. I don't know if I want to spend an additional $100 bucks (I am currently using Becker). I was wondering if I can get anyone's opinion on the full audio and if it's worth the money. Thanks!

I truly believe that the Ninja Audio/Flashcards/Notes was the reason I increased my AUD score 20 points. I recalled several things verbatim from the Audio while I was taking my test.

    Hi everyone,

I just registered but have been lurking for a couple of months semi-regularly. I've had two REALLY disappointing scores so far (FAR – 60 and AUD – 49). I am stunned at my Audit score, I really thought I did pretty well on it…I even thought I'd nailed at least a majority of my simulations. Which makes it worse that I have no idea what I did wrong. I've heard of the theory that you should go back and try to face what you failed immediately – but I don't know if that's smart for me personally. I really feel like I will be better off if I try and move on and not dwell on what happened before. That's why I'm moving on to REG on July 31. I just know I'm not doing something right, clearly. I go through my whole book (I'm using Roger…is there a reason so few here don't use him? Or either that or most just don't say?) and I run the multiple choice questions…but I know one thing I'm changing for Regulation is to spend more time doing multiple choice questions as I go. I haven't been doing that as much – the bulk of what I do in that regard is at the end (last 2-2.5 weeks). I'm seriously considering spending the first month or so on Taxation, which is 9 chapters in the Roger Textbook. That's half my study window…which I think is probably smart. I'm so relieved that I took a business law course in the Fall, too, otherwise I'd be totally clueless on that.

Anyway…that was a bit of a ramble, I just wanted to introduce myself and get any kind of advice to revamp my studying? Like what kinds of materials are out there that I could add to Roger (for really cheap or even free). I'm definitely going to look into CPA Excel. I've heard of it but have not looked at it as of yet. Anyway…time to pick myself back up, yet again, and start going for Regulation. Hoping the support here will help. šŸ™‚

a lot of people on here talk about the NINJA stuff being pretty good for the price its at, i personally haven't used it. I use Becker and its done me well so far. I go through the lecture highlight everything and what not. I'm adding also making my own personal condensed notes of each chapter and i read through it and then when i'm doing the MCQ if i get a question wrong i go back look at my notes and if i need to add something to help me understand the concept more than i do. I also have the Becker flashcards on my phone to test my knowledge without answers. For audit i pounded MCQ way too hard without fully understanding the concept so i'm backing away from doing them over and over again until i have my book fully map'ed out in my notes. I still do the required MCQ for chapters just not placing an emphasis on them right now as i am 40 days away from test day.

But you should still have faith because its not impossible just takes hard work and perseverance.

Welcome! I didn't use a full review course because I couldn't afford it. I didn't learn until studying for FAR what really suits my study habits best. I've determined that it's all about the MCQ if you have a good test bank. I'm skipping lectures and books for REG and using the Ninja MCQ and ninja Notes to really learn the material. If you scroll back you'll see other posts I've made with my study techniques. They've worked for me, but if you learn best with lectures, then do that. I highly suggest not moving on until you pass a section because all you're doing is starting over each time. If you stuck with FAR/AUD until you passed them you would have a better change of getting some passes down sooner than starting new material each time. But if you've already made up your mind to move on then we look forward to having you in the REG study group. Good luck with your studies and don't hesitate to post questions as you go along if you are confused about any topic. We're all in this together and here to support each other!

That's what I keep hearing about sticking w/ the same exam. I just don't know if I could handle failing the same exam like 3 times in a row. Also, I already had a full NTS with an exam scheduled every two months. I'll definitely keep up with this forum, and for sure this thread. Trying everything I can think of that may help. I think also spending more time re-reading/taking notes on the material will help me out. It's kind of a pain but I think writing out important concepts and numbers will help me.

After I went through all the MCQ and took additional notes I rewrote all of my notes for AUD and I think it helped a lot. I didn't have time for that for FAR because it was just too much material, but rewriting is a good way to reinforce the material. It sounds like you have a good plan. I would suggest not scheduling more than one or two tests on any NTS for the very reason that you are forced to move on. I have noticed a trend in failing scores for those that jump around a lot after failing a section. Try to forget about the other two exams and don't let those fails bring you down mentally. Each test is a subject all it's own with only a little overlap so treat it like you haven't taken an exam before. Having just taken BL will be helpful for you.

Maybe set weekly goals/daily goals for yourself. Have an idea of what you need to accomplish that day in order to be ready by test day.

Hey Eliam, I see we're testing on the same day. What have you covered so far? Gift/Trust/Estate tax wasn't bad at all. Very few threshholds to memorize. Individual was a bitch!

i've done chapter 1 which is indiv tax the basics like filing status, exemptions, gross income. then i skipped to professional responsibilities and ethics in tax services. I'm waiting for my new book to really get going cause i don't like crossing out numbers and putting the new ones in. but i got all my notes for chapter 1 and i'm working on my notes for the ethics stuff now. My book should be here tomorrow atleast hopefully. It sounds like you've gotten through most of the material already. I gotta catch up
