@Gabe- yeah for sure. It is all web based? Or is there an app? I do most of my studying on my iPad. So I want to make sure its compatiable and what not before I put more cash out there. I feel like I have so much already tied up into these tests already ha!

Currently caught up on gains/losses from liquidation/ reorganizations and determining whether a distribution is a return of capital, dividend, or ordinary income. This topic seems to have lots of moving parts. Anyone have a way to simplify some of it?

I am confused when actually is the end of the return period.

For this rule such as failure to retain records properly, which says:

The tax preparer is required to keep, for the three years following the last day of the return period (the 12-month period beginning on July 1 of each year) blah, blah, blah…

Let's say I prepared my client's 2013 tax return on April 1, 2014, when is exactly the end of the return period for this scenario? Why July 1 is the beginning, not January 1?

    Thanks guys!

Is July 1 used consistently, or did they just use July 1 as an example? Or…maybe a typo lol

@fut can you elaborate? are you saying all tuition deduction into one credit?

My gut says no, since one is a refundable CR and the other is a non refundable CR.

@kick – I only recall seeing one comment on the forum insinuating there was a blaw sim….but for the norm, I think sims will be 99.99% tax. Not to say that you shouldn't know blaw, though. You just never know with these exams.

After taking the AUD exam on 11/29/14, I told myself I will take a week break before starting REG. Then I got the AUD result on 12/09/14… I deserve another week of celebration right? Hahaha! I promise I will really start studying for REG on 12/15/14.

We can all do this guys! Good luck and God bless to everyone! xoxo

Bridge, a C corporation, had $15,000 in accumulated earnings and profits at the beginning of the current year. During the current year, Bridge reported earnings and profits of $10,000 and paid $20,000 in cash distributions to its shareholders in both March and July. What amount of the July distribution should be classified as dividend income to Bridge's shareholders?

    a.$10,000

    b.$20,000

    c.$5,000

    d.$15,000

    Little help with this one?

    c?

    15 + 10= 25k (available)

$20k is distributed in march and July

25K available- 20K distributed in July= 5K excess considered income
