I've considered getting NINJA MCQ to supplement Becker. I feel like at times I begin to memorize the questions and answers instead of answering.

    REG - 86

I have the audio (currently listening to it at work)…even when I'm not paying attention, I'll find myself remember things from the audio later…

I also supplemented my Wiley with Ninja, like HR, I find myself memorizing answers so it's a nice change.

@Angel I think 1 month is sufficient for review. You're not going to remember every single tax detail and exclusion, but as long as you have a good grasp on the basics and Blaw, you should be fine.

@angel I think that is MORE than enough. I have my exam set of May 4th and I'm only on my 4th chapter!! you're already in review phase! and you have been studying since early Feb. If you push it out even more you will start to forget stuff. Understand that you will never learn everything 100%.

Yeah, I think I'm going to move my exam up a week or two. In my mind, I had to have something scheduled but now I think I scheduled a bit too far back. I might try to squeeze it in right before the cutoff to get my score in the first release wave.

Hey all! Sorry this isn't a post regarding a REG homework problem, but I need some advice. I failed REG in February with a 68. I am now re-studying and planning to re-take April 9th. I am studying full-time. Is this enough time do you think? I see that some people are re-taking in May…but maybe that's because you are also working full time? Any advice is welcome!

    @angel good idea!

@CPAbound I received a 68 in January and started studying again in February. I am scheduled to take it April 3rd and I have a full time job and 2 kids. So, I think if you are strictly studying full time, you should be good to go on the 9th! Happy studying 🙂

Those using Ninja MCQ- what are your stats looking like?

@angel I think that's a good idea. Also, how did you tackle the SIMS? and did you do the non-tax SIMS as well? Jeff said if he was taking the exam now he wouldn't bother practicing them.

    Hello Everyone,

Question here. I feel super demotivated, I don't know why I am just 1 test away, and still on R1. How tough it can be for a person who have never worked in taxes so far in his/her life? R1 feels overwhelming and I dont feel like to study at all. It drives me nuts.

what to do? How to manage this heavily detailed oriented material?

    Thanks

    CA Candidate
    FAR: You are down...
    Aud: Surprised me...Thanks
    BEC: 75% work done
    REG: It's 80 but I am 100% done 🙂

Becker's sims were hard. I did most of them but they are worded so poorly that I had to look at solutions just to see if I was on the right track. I didn't quite finish chapter 8 and I still have a few of chapter 4 left. Going to see what NINJA looks like.

Some people say to practice as many as possible. Others say just focus on MCQ and know the concepts. So I'm going to take a middle of the road approach.

Finally, from everything other people have said, Jeff is 100% correct in not looking at business law sims. I haven't read a single account of a person getting a business law sim on their exam. In fact most people, explicitly, state that every one of their sims was tax related.

@angel I am doing the same. I went through all ninja and wiley sims once, hitting sims again on trouble areas just to have it in a different format than MCQs, if that makes sense. 🙂

I remember on my first go-around I looked at the Becker SIMs and I said WTF. The ones on the exam weren't that long but they were so vague I still didn't really understand what they were asking and I had 2 research. But I was definitely not fully preparded to take the exam. But I had to take it because like an idiot I paid for all 4 exams at once. Given the circumstance I'm still surprised I made a 69 lol I'm just starting R7 and its so overwhelming it's taking me a long time to get through the material.

We gotta step up our questions! come on!

    here ya go 😉

Sam patents a “rat zapper,” a shoe-box-sized device that uses bait to lure in a rat and then kills it with an electrical charge. Lon files a patent application for a “gopher zapper,” a slightly bigger device that uses bait to lure in a gopher and then kills it with an electrical charge. What is true regarding Lon's application?

A It will probably be denied, as not being useful.

B It will probably be denied as not involving patentable subject matter.

C It will probably be denied for failing the non-obviousness requirement.

D All of the above are correct.
