REG/CPA exam driving me nuts

I’ve lost it. I got another close score on REG today. I did fine on the first 3 parts last summer but am losing the motivation. My job doesn’t require me to pass the CPA exam although I know it would help me in the future. I’ve sacrificed so much time and money on this stupid exam. What’s the point of a 72? I have no idea which questions to study. I studied for a month straight and then I got 3 simulation questions that weren’t in my Becker or Wiley test banks. What the hell? I feel like it doesn’t matter what I study I’ll just get some random crap questions. Accounting is such a BS field. This test is just the cherry on top. Arbitrary profession, arbitrary test. I shouldn’t care anymore. I’m sure I’ll give it another try once I cool down.

Have you gone through the ninja mcq test bank yet? FAR = 87 means you have the aptitude to pass, so something is wrong with the way you are studying.

I bought the Ninja questions. I'll go through those after I talk to my therapist who won't understand what I'm talking about either.

Definitely give the ninja mcq a chance for REG. I used Wiley for everything until this last time I used ninja for REG. Wiley's great for everything but REG (not so much the substance of the questions, but just the ratio-feels like 60+% of REG in Wiley is business law).

You said you bought the ninja mcq, so give those a chance since you were so close this time anyway! This last retake of REG for me I did absolutely nothing but read ninja notes and work on the ninja test bank, never opened Wiley book or anything else.

Good luck next time, you're almost there!!

    FAR - 75
    AUD - 72; 87
    REG - 64; 74; 84
    BEC - 88

    Done!!

Same here, I passed all other 3 sections on the first try but I found out yesterday that I didn't pass REG and I had this heart-sinking feeling like as if I died inside a little. I lost all motivation to do anything this weekend and cancelled all my plans to meet family/friends to just sit at home and be sad.

Like you I had SIMS from hell that I haven't seen anything like before and I'm sure they're the reason I failed. I relied too much on Becker's MCQs and some Wiley and didn't go over Ninja MCQ/notes much. My last experience with REG taught me what I really don't know and I'm sure it revealed your weakness too if you still remember all those questions that you were struggling with.

What we need to do is the following:

First: Let's be true Ninjas this time. Let's rewrite the Ninja notes (as in rewrite out of your memory/understanding not just copying). Let's also Do ALL Ninja MCQs and SIM's.

Second: Let's make sure we know TAX. Yes business law is important but our experiences and the fact that it is mentioned that BLAW is only <20% of the score tell us where to focus. We must know how to calculate basis for C corp, S corp, partnership etc. We must know how to calculate individual and corp AMTetc.. We must know to do all of this and more to pass.

Third : Never give up. There are candidates who took this exam more than 10/15 times and eventually passed the whole thing. what is 1,2,,4 or 5 fails?? some people including Jeff himself failed multiple times and never gave up and we too must not give up.

“THE ONLY TRUE FAILURE IS WHEN YOU STOP TRYING”

    Good luck..

    Cuj
