God, i hate to post this but it is killing me!!! I took yesterday, 8/31, and hardly touched the 2nd Sim. This old horse has been rode to death, but any saving grace out there people? I have been in this predicament before and still passed. Maybe, just maybe the CPA gods will see this is my last exam. They worked in my favor before on AUD - 76.
Seriously, if I did well on M C and average on 1st Sim, could I still pass?? Awaiting this dreadful predicament

Last score release a gal I was chatting with left her entire 2nd simulation completely blank (ran out of time, didn't even have time to guess) and she scored an 89. I had one entire tab of my 2nd sim blank and scored an 82, so it's TOTALLY possible to do well when you didn't finish.
I think it depends on whether or not you were close without that section completed. If you're close enough to get a manual review, I have a feeling they bump up your score if it's totally blank and you did really well on the rest.

There is definitely hope for you. I walked out of my REG exam that I took in July and didn't even look at any of the tabs in my 2nd sim and only did my communication tab (which I didn't even get to finish) and still scored a 90. I walked out of that test completely discouraged and was confident that I failed. I was shocked to see my score!
I felt pretty good about my MCQ's so I would say as long as you feel pretty good about those you may be surprised! Good Luck!

thanks for the hope...i felt really confident going into exam based on becker 2009 did both simulations not to happy with either of them as im not sure what they wanted exactly ....the question i felt pretty good/ok ish but then it hit me 2 questions i was debating with back in testlet... i got wrong after looking in book plus theres always the others one doesnt remember......i really hope i passed anyone else has such stories/feelings

I appreciate the encouragement. There were some MCs I should have gotten correct. Prepared to retake. Hoping for the absolute best, though. We will see how it goes.
I did my best, given the circumstances. If I retake, will still have Oct and Nov before format changes. Let's go CPA, let's go!!!

Ok, so I took my REG exam on 7/9... I am in one of the indie states, so I expect it to take a while to get my results... I called the 800-CPA-EXAM today and was told that they are no longer allowed to say if your score was released or not... I emailed NC and the woman there won't say whether or not she has the scores. Seriously? How long can it possible take for NASBA to release to NC and for her to put them in envelopes and drop them in the mail? It is killing me. NC has already released ALL 3 of the other exams for wave 1!! HELP!! This wait is KILLING ME!! Anyone else ever had this much trouble with receiving their score?!

I would not advise holding your breath Wendy, you'll certainly die - the family will receive flowers, there'll be a wake, you'll be buried, the family will eventually press through the grieving and THEN you might get your score.
I waited 8 weeks on this last release (and I was supposed to be in the 1st wave) and then the "lady" re-mailed my scores after telling me to wait another week, wait another week after my first inquires starting 6 weeks into the waiting process. After "re-mailing" them they arrived in one day. I only live 10 minutes from their offices. Four days later the original mailing arrived undamaged - not so much as a scuff mark - with a two week old post mark on it.
THATS NC FOR YOU.

carolina_blues: I am really glad that someone else feels my pain with this one!! I can't even get an answer from anyone on which wave I fell into!! Lets keep our figers crossed that they eventaully get with the times and release online. By then, we will probably be finished, but at least people in the future won't have to sit and wait around!!

Same here, I took both FAR and REG in July and only just got the results for FAR yesterday. I don't know if you guys know this, but here is the website where they update those in NC the dates of when we get our CPA scores:

Thanks jefflin - I found this bold red statement rather humoruos. It can be found directly above the given mailing dates.
"The Board does not receive all the score notices for a particular Exam section on the same date and therefore, not all score notices for a particular section are not mailed on the same date."
I give up, does the double negative mean that they actually ARE mailed out on the same date? paahaahahaaa!

Carolina_blues - I am in WV, a snail mail state as well. I will be going through the same wait as you in September for my Wave 2 REG score...I can usually call into the board the day they mail the scores out and they'll give me my score over the phone. Did you try calling? Good luck!

Wendy & Carolina_blues, I feel your pain! I e-mailed NC on Wed and asked if they were mailing the scores this week and Phyllis replied "check the website" - which I have been doing all week. I'm hoping tomorrow brings me some news on the Reg score!

@ NY CPA. I was tought 500 in my review course. But when I was practicing an AICPA recently released CPA question, I could not figure the question out. The only way I could get any of the answers is if I used 100 instead of 500 before subtracting 10% of AGI.
I was so happy to see that u posted this, because I had no idea where the 100 was coming from.
But, to answer your question, it looks like the AICPA is using the $100 threshold instead of 500

I found this on irs website:
"Changes the amount by which all individual taxpayers must reduce their personal casualty or theft losses for each casualty or theft event from $100 to $500. This applies to deductions claimed in 2009. The reduction amount returns to $100 for taxable years beginning after December 31, 2009"

I had a casualty loss question on my exam and could only get the right answer if I used $100 and not $500. I'm positive I had it calculated correctly and that the question was looking for the calc using $100. Strange that Becker posted an update to the text saying it was now $500.

Yeah, on most of the cpa tests, do well on the multiple choice, and if you do not know the answer to the written communication, just sorta BS it but write professionally and you will probably pass. Most people do horrible on the sims anyways.

I surprisingly got my score in the mail on Tuesday (AK) even though my score has not yet posted to the NASBA website. Maybe when I asked that they send me a paper copy of my score that meant I don't get it online? I don't really remember the form I filled out when I applied back in Feb. I had been thinking I had been pushed to Wave 2. Guess not...
BTW I was pretty sure I would score in the low to mid 70s, but got an 89! I still can't believe it. I have this nagging feeling they mixed up my score with someone else!

I used Yaeger (they lecture from Wiley). Since I do finally have a score, I can vouch for them and say I'm glad I paid less. Though I have to say it helps a lot when you have work experience with taxes too. The practice tests from Wiley may humble you but really prepare you.

any news about when the scores will be out for the 2nd wave?! Im dying to know so I can plan out my oct/nov months as I still need to take FAR in Oct/Nov... im hoping I pass so i can focus on FAR for those 2 months
