    Hi,

I am taking REG in three weeks and kind of want to know what the difficulty of the simulation on the actual exam. Is it more difficult than the ones on Becker or the two are comparable? What about MCQ?

    Thanks!

    BEC - 90
    FAR - 93
    REG - 94

You're not going to like hearing this but there's no real comparison. They're “different.”

This is advice I've been giving on REG Sims ever since taking my exam in mid April. You cannot fully practice for the REG Sims. You can practice all you want but you might not see anything that resembles what was in Becker or in NINJA at all. Also, you may have heard horror stories about how difficult the REG Sims are. All of the stories are the absolute truth and REG Sims are just as bad as advertised. The Sims are complicated and complex.

That's the bad news. With that out of the way, here's what you want to do. Get familiar with the IRC using Becker. The IRC from Becker mirrors the IRC on the exam pretty well. So once you figure out how to navigate it in Becker, you'll be in good shape on exam day. The IRC is actually laid out in a very logical manner and you'll be able to use the IRC to find information for your Sim on exam day (all of them, not just the Research Sim). Next you want to know the concepts and theory behind the MCQ portion of the exam. I used Becker as well and every Sim was on a subject that I had studied using Becker. They just went into a lot more detail and were a lot more complicated than I was expecting.

Speaking of the Research Sim, I'll just toss this out there. My Research Sim was on a subject I knew about. The Sim described a situation but never told you what it was referring to. I knew, instantly, what the description was referring to so I was able to find it pretty quickly but if I didn't know what the situation was, there is simply no way I'd ever have found the answer. It would have been flat out impossible to guess on.

Hope that this helps and good luck. Based on your other scores you should be fine. Understandable to be nervous but your scores are all solid so you know how to study.

    Good luck!

@Angelwatch Thanks for the advise. I will definitely get more familiar with IRC. While I practice the research questions using Becker though, besides IRC, there is another one called AICPA. Will the AICPA code be tested on the exam?

Nobody can say for certain what will be on your exam. With that being said, I wouldn't be too worried about the AICPA code on exam day.
