    Hello.

I am scheduled to take AUD on April 25th but I am not prepared. I was so excited to schedule for the CPA exam that I didnt even read through all the information on the process and did not know there was a 6 month time limit per NTS. Anyways… I started trying to study two months ago feeling pressure but I havent been able to really get things going and I know I am completely unprepared. Im not even a quarter way through the study material and I just started to get my study groove back. Im not really worried about losing the money for the exam. Im kind of just worried about it showing up on my record or whatever report card that the CPA exams are on. Thats just a me thing. I know people who have failed it 15 times and dont care but I just know that if I take it already feeling unprepared and then fail the exam just because I already paid for it, its going to discourage me a whole lot versus just studying and going at it confidently in the beginning. Anyways, my question is does a no show or a canceled exam show up on whatever record the CPA scores show up on. Thanx for helping me. I have been trying to google but didnt find anything that really clarified things for me.

I don't know the answer to your specific question about a no-show/cancel but I don't think it makes any difference in the scheme of things. You'll just have to apply for a new NTS but if this is your first exam, I wouldn't rule out going just to get the experience of it for when you're ready. I assume you don't have much wiggle room w/ the 6 months to push it later in this window?

    BEC - 02/21/15 - 82
    FAR - 05/29/15 - 82
    AUD - 07/09/15 - 93
    REG - 11/14/15 - 80

    All done!!!

Two questions: When does your NTS expire? When do you think is the time you are prepared to sit?

The State Board may grant you (ONCE DURING A CPA CANDIDATE'S CPA TEST PURSUIT) at least a month of extension from the date of your NTS expiry if you request them.

First, write the State Board to request for extension stating your reasons like health, family, work issues, or any blah blah excuses.

Second, call to follow up with your request. They should be able to tell you to go ahead and cancel your schedule (at $35 cancellation fee via Prometric if keyed in within 5-30 days before the test date).

If your NTS expires on 4/25, you might want to take my advice no later than 4/17.

Thank you for replying. I guess just to clarify, I just wanted to know that in the end, there really is or is not a way for an employer to request some type of report card to get all my scores if I do end up just taking the exam. Not sure how they would request to see that I have passed all four exams.

But yes. I am scheduled to take the exam 4/25 and my nts expires 4/29.

I thought that I would be ready but I know I need more time. I have two kids (7 and 4) and I work full time and having to get into the groove of studying and trying to maintain an orderly household, the time was not sufficient. I should have better prepared but like I said previously, I just jumped into the NTS process and was unaware that you had to request one for every test and had a 6 month limit per.

I was unaware of that one month extension. I will write just to see if it works. And hopefully I am not too late. If I am, well I planned on paying again regardless.

And I plan on sitting in 8 weeks. I want to reapply for my NTS in 6 weeks.

It sounds like rescheduling might not be an option (unless you can get an NTS extension AND think you will be ready within a month or so). I would recommend just taking the test. If anything, you get a feel for what the test is like and can have an idea of what areas you would need to work on. Good luck!

    AUD - 82
    BEC - 79
    REG - 71,86
    FAR - July 2015

I would take the exam rather than letting your money go to waste. You might get lucky with your MCQ's and could possibly get some SIMS where the answers are right out of the AL.

I read on here once that someone sped through REG in about 10 minutes, just clicking answers, all because they were afraid to get a parking ticket. In my personal opinion, they shouldn't be in accounting anyway. Why? Because the price of a parking ticket is probably 1/4th of the price to pay and reschedule a failed exam.

I think you should try to take it. I was only through about 20% of the material when I had a week left for audit and by studying the entire weekend and any other time I had I managed to get through my material and pass with a 95. It is possible. Also, employers could look up your scores (at least in Florida with last name and ssn), but I don't think they usually do. No point wasting your nts. Also don't lie to get it extended. That is messed up. I had to have my one extended because my father died, and you never know what could happen. You might actually need an extension at some point.
