Hi All CPA holders and candidates 🙂

I am an international CPA candidate registered in NH board of accountancy.

I have a question about if it is avilable to schedule the session ( FAR – BEC – REG – AUD )

within the period of same NTS? assuming that NTS includes all four parts.

    In other words:

    – If I have FAR – for example – in First of Jan. and I ( Did not attend OR did not pass ),

Can I reschedule it in Feb. or April or May? [assuming NTS validity period 6months starting in Jan.]

and it may differ if I didn’t pass from not attend?

Thanks guys in advance and for the awesome site that I like.

Wish you all the best of luck!

    Regards,

    Maged Melio

You can reschedule an exam (possibly with a fee) BEFORE you are scheduled to attend the exam. If you either miss an exam date or fail an exam, you need to wait until the next testing window to reschedule.

    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

    Hi maged,

You can't retake a test in the same testing window, whether you didn't pass or no show.

For your example, if you took FAR in January, the earliest you could retake is April.

    Hope this helps!

Also, you have to buy a new NTS to retake a section that you either did not pass or scheduled, but did not attend.

    BEC 81
    AUD 76
    FAR 70, 76
    REG 58, 78! DONE!

The other replies are correct that you can only take each section once per testing window. However, a NTS is valid for 6 months, and can therefore include 2-3 testing windows. So using the OP's example, if you take FAR in January and fail, you can retake it in April or May, but not February.

As for noshows, I don't understand how that could happen. You can reschedule the exam as late as the day before your current appointment. There will be a reschedule fee, but it won't be as much as the full exam fee. Plus, you don't lose the testing window.

Noct, the length of NTS validity varies from state to state. Also, the NTS expires either on the last day shown or on the date that it is used. If you take FAR in January and fail, you have to apply for a new NTS. The original NTS has absolutely no bearing on dates once the exam is taken.

True that you have to reapply for a new NTS, but you can still retake the exam within the same period of the original NTS as long as it's not in the same testing window. I should know, I did exactly that with AUD.

    FAR - 79 - 07/2012
    AUD - 65, 78 - 11/2012
    BEC - 76 - 11/2012
    REG - 78 - 01/2013
    ETH - 98 - 01/2013

When you get your new NTS though, it will extend the period that you are able to sit for the exam. For example you have an NTS that is valid from Jan-June. You can sit in Jan, Feb, April or May. You sit in January and fail. IF You apply for a new NTS right away, that new NTS will be valid from April-September. Now you can retake the exam in April, May, July, or August. However you don't have to reapply for a new NTS right away. You can wait months to reapply.

I understand that you've retaken an exam. However your explanation is a bit misleading.

I understand that applying for a new NTS will create a new NTS window. That wasn't the OP's original question. In fact, no one before me answered the OP's question:

“I have a question about if it is avilable to schedule the session ( FAR – BEC – REG – AUD ) within the period of same NTS?”, “In other words: If I have FAR – for example – in First of Jan. and I ( Did not attend OR did not pass ), Can I reschedule it in Feb. or April or May?”

The question (as I understand it) is whether or not a section can be retaken within the same NTS period. The answer is yes, as long as it's not in the same test window.

    How is that misleading?

Many Thanks to all of you; mla1169, WACCadoodle, abacus, Noct.

I appreciate your response and help.

A conclusion from this valuable posts is that I can reschedule but I have to:

    – Buy another NTS [ for the part to be reschedule ]

    – Reschedule not in the same testing window.

Again thank you all, I wish you all the best of luck!
