A few tips I can think of… people don't usually include the “Objective” section or put ‘references available upon request' anymore as it's redundant.. keep it to one page.. make it visually appealing when looking at it from afar before it's read. Include an interests section at the bottom but try to elaborate on them rather than having one word answers. Use action verbs when describing duties in your past employment, try to include specific accomplishments. Always start with the most important things and work your way down. Have at least 3 other people look at it, but take their recommendations with a grain of salt.

A finance club at my alma mater that had a good resume template to use. Feel free to adjust for your own needs, but it's very basic, clean, easy to read, etc. My resume after working for a year changed a little bit. I moved “Education to the bottom, and Experience to the top and removed addresses (only email and phone number). Also removed “Leadership Experience” as no one really cares after you start working unless you are in a high position in a nonprofit or actively involved in smoething that you can speak intelligently about (e.g. Regional Leadership Council Chairperson for Red Cross, Big Brother/Big Sister program, etc).

    Good luck.
