I just failed my REG and will retake it on Jan. I am using Becker. Now I’m considering choose another materials as supplement? Does anyone have some recommend? Wiley software or Gleim software? Also do I need to use 2012 edition or 2011 would be better?

Tax laws are constantly changing…I would definitely recommend getting the most recent edition. I used Becker…it served me fine, but I think it would have benefitted me to supplement it with a different course…or at least a test bank.

Use Becker. Might as well stay with what you are familiar with and go over the lectures. Hopefully you took advantage of the promise to assist. Also, go over more heavily what areas you were weak in on the exam. I have a feeling, if it was most of law and you just do not follow Peter O like I cannot follow him at all with his sales person approach, then go through all the MCQs and maybe type the laws. Good news, you do not have to start totally from scratch since you are doing a retake.

I too failed by 4 points and I have Becker Wiley and ninja notes! I am going to add roger cram. I received weak in business law and I want to pass my second go round so I am giving it my all. Doubt that there will be any changes for 2012 as tax laws are not even set as early as January. Plus I doubt that the examners will be able to write new exam questions that will actually significantly count towards your grade on 2012 tax questions during the first test window. Good luck

Business law seems to be the drawback which is Peter O as the lecturer:( I don't follow him at all. I mostly try to skip his lectures because when I try to listen, he talks to fast and brings up unrelated jokes. Sounds like a sales man. There's a lot of technical concepts to know. I'm in the same boat at this point. FAR was dreadful with Peter too so had to compensate with Wiley and other materials.

    Yvonne,

You're the first person I've ever known to like Tim Gearty over Peter Olinto.

If it wasn't for Peter's jokes, I wouldn't have made it this far.

LOL, I just don't follow Peter. Like him and his personality but for learning, it's hard to follow his methods. He zips through the material too fast. Tim is geeky but he makes it understandable. Sometimes too slow and obvious but I can live with that.

Just realized, Peter O was to cover the business law section and failed us by 100s of pages worth of very important topics! for review only and given tons of MCQs. I think for all the money we paid, we need lectures on every chapter.

Ya, I can see that. I guess, just being from the south, I find Peter's accent and attitude pretty funny because we don't have many wise guys like him around these parts.

That said, I agree; I disliked Tim more, but I graded out better on his lessons/sections haha
