I got job 2nd interview at a company. They will do background check. Including my salary. I wrote 100% accurate info on my resume. I told HR my salary (including 5k tuition, 5k stocks in same company) when they do salary, will this cause any issues? I doubt they will go this far in background check. I have yet to complete online app for background check. Shuld I stick to what I told HR verbally?

    Thnks!

I have had my salary verified before in a background check. I really think you're okay, just make sure your info is the same all across. I made the mistake of not correcting my employment dates by a month for 2 positions and I'm still working here.

You'll be fine. As far as I know, I don't think they are generally able to get verification of bonuses of any type. Most employers just validate dates of employment and base salary. For obvious reasons, they won't start giving away bonus information.

Can you imagine if I was a competitor, and I convinced someone to “apply” at my company so I could find out their bonus structure? Base salary will be discovered, but no one wants everyone to know their business… and I'm just talking about the employer…

Disclose everything. If they have a question, then answer truthfully. No harm done.

If I recall correctly, I saw one of the reports that was run on me (in my former state, it was legally required that an employer offer you a copy if you request). There were several “exceptions” noted. One was a title difference. I wrote Associate and the report showed Staff. No one cared or asked. Also I wrote “graduated in Aug 20xx” and the report showed the official date was in Sep 20xx. Again, no questions. Almost every employment date I listed was incorrect, since I didn't remember exact dates, but I generally got the months correct.

Again, it's not a multiple choice test. Employers just want to be sure you didn't misrepresent anything. For example, saying you were a full time associate at KPMG while you were really just a part time intern.

At one time in my life I processed HR paperwork (briefly), we just used this stuff to verify experience requirements (when required) and to insure you were actually employed.

Can't speak for everyone but in my limited experience this would only be an issue if they specifically state “2 years of management experience” and it comes back that you spent 6 months mopping the floor.
