Score a 72 on BEC… again. What's a gal to do?

    Here’s my situation:

    AUD credit will expire 9/9/2014

I was hoping to pass BEC in Feb.. but just found out I ended up with another 72. 🙁

I’ve already signed up for REG and will take that on April 7th. I’m estimating between now and April 7th, I should be able to get a minimum of 80 hrs study time in.

Which leaves me with… do I reapply for BEC and try to take that again ASAP after REG? I also wanted to try and have a shot at FAR in the 2Q testing window (by end of May), however failing BEC again leaves me thinking that I might have to push FAR to July to have any hope.

Even then.. if I fail FAR (and still pass REG & BEC in 2Q), I lose AUD. Blah!

Thoughts? Should I try to take BEC before the end of Apr, then FAR by end of May (just so I can get a feel for FAR, even if I don’t pass)?

I feel like I’m in quite the pickle, but could be worse.

I think you should take BEC again ASAP. There's just so many equations to memorize, I think it's best to keep all of those fresh in your mind. Although, I haven't taken FAR or REG yet, so I'm not too sure. It sounds like you'll probably have to push FAR back until July, but an exam that size needs a ton of attention.

Then again, getting a feel for FAR in may won't hurt you – it's just up to you if it's worth paying the exam fees for a “recon mission”.

I agree – BEC before FAR. You don't want to have too much information in your mind at the same time. Good luck. Just stay positive and you WILL pass all 3 before reg expires!

    A - 75
    B - 78 God is good.
    F - 77 Answered prayers.
    R - 84! Done!!

Paperwork sent - waiting for license!!
Still on a cloud and in shock. Through God, all things will happen.

I know that a Texas NTS is only good for like 90 days or something equally ridiculous, but is there any way you could switch REG and BEC? It might be better if you took BEC early in the 2nd Q and then hit REG at the end. You've got at least 2 weeks to study and hit the sections where you were weak like a sledgehammer. I wouldn't watch any more lectures unless there is something that you really just don't understand. Watch those over and then MCQ's until you are sick of them. Ninja audio all day, every day, if possible. Then listen to it without any distractions from beginning to end. Back it up if Jeff gets to something that you don't know like the back of your hand. Listen carefully and write it down.

Some people don't practice the WC, but I had to practice coming up with something quickly. BEC questions are tricky, but all CPA exam questions are tricky, and I knew I could get more time on the MCQ's if I could learn to come up with the WC fast. I also downloaded a free app on my phone that was actually for the written portion of the GRE, I think it was the GRE but it may have been the GMAT. That really helped with grammar. I turned the spell/grammar check off when I was writing and I set a timer for 15 minutes. When the timer went off, I stopped writing and then ran a spell/grammar check, with the readability statistics turned on. Louisiana doesn't give a score report breakdown if you pass so I don't know if my WC were weaker, comparable or stronger. This may have been an exercise in futility, but I got an 82 the first time I passed it and an 85 the second.

Do you remember the name of the App for WC? I wanted to download it on my iPhone.

Sorry. 🙁 I took most of that stuff off my Kindle and my phone after I finished. I think I did a search for grammar in the Kindle App store.

@Kricket…. unfortunately my NTS expires on April 13th for REG, so I was planning to just continue to study for REG and take it April 7th as originally planned. 🙁

I'm thinking right after that I will immediately start studying for BEC again and take it maybe the 1st week of May.

WC I don't seem to be having a problem on, but for some reason it seems like I am still deficient in the SAME 3 areas (per my diagnostic report). My goal this time will be to hammer those out as much possible and not miss a thing…

@DeterminedCPA- thanks! I guess April and May will be some crazy months for me… I have narrowed it down to REG April 7th, BEC last week of Apr/first week of May… then FAR as late as possible in May.

I have to pass one if not all!!!
