I cant believe I came 5 points short from passing, I am frustrated because I was so close! I used the MCQ from Ninja and Becker’s book as well. I was wondering if any of you guys can give me some advice on what areas i should focus on in order to score an extra 5-10 points or how I should go about my studying. I’m planning on re taking the test towards the end of April.

Should I review everything from chapter 1 in the book in Becker’s?

Work on MCQ NINJA & Simulations everyday?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance

You scared me by your all-caps title, I almost had a heart attack. (The word “SCORED” seemed like SCARED).

What section did you just take?

@ AmorD it was for the FAR section…. just feeling very upset w the exam, especially since they do not even tell you what you actually scored in the MC section/SIM section….

Scoring in the low 70's really sucks! They said In the old days, the highest failed score was 69.

I got three 70+ scores in the past and sat nine times in my life. At this time, what I've developed is anxiety. The day before and in the morning of the test and score release, gosh my nerves are always killing me. I've noticed my heartbeat has changed lately. Even when I am only trying to arrive at an appointment, let's say in my job interview last Wednesday, my nerves were out of control for some reason. I cannot stop feeling so nervous. I was not like this before. So earlier when my eyes caught your all caps title with words like “scared or scored” then with “help”, literally my heartbeat was above my head, so funny! I thought somebody was dying or drowning.

With your score of 70 for FAR first attempt, you did good, only it was a little short. Don't sweat it too much. Don't be too hard to yourself. Instead, give yourself some consoling words. You were so close, you did your best, so you will get it next time.

Let's do more MCQs this time since we already learned the concepts well. REG and FAR have so many details, general rules, important dates to remember. It's easy to get those small details correct if we write notes and keep reading them. You know what to do with the computational questions, right? Same with me for tax problems, so let's kill these two big beasts in Q2!

I got the same score. I completely understand im exactly in your shoes.

70 on FAR on first attempt. Except that i only used Becker nothing else. This time i'm adding Ninja and see how that goes. You think its sufficient? How was Ninja?

i know a friend who added Wiley as well.. but as he said not very useful and lengthy.

The SIM were my weak point and i dont know how to prepare for that!

    FAR May/17/15 - 70, 78
    AUD Aug/19/15 - 80
    BEC Nov/17/15 - 78
    REG Feb/24/16 - 78

Becker selfstudy + NINJA 10 point combo
Patience Practice Persistence.. & You'll get there!

I CANT BELIEVE I'M OFFICIALLY DONE. *Tears of joy*

I sat for FAR 4 times…the difference for me (and I know a million people have said this) was knowing the journal entries for everything (even govt/NFP questions). Also…adding the Ninja MCQ and audio really helped as well, just to get a fresh set of questions.

    good luck and happy studying!

I agree 100% with Gabe. I started doing journal entries for each multiple choice even if I knew how to do it without. Once you nail journal entries for leases, bonds, nonmonetary, and GOV/NFP, you'll be able to answer anything plus it makes your life easier for the SIMS.

    BEC - 80 (Becker)
    AUD - 92 (Becker+NINJA MCQ)
    FAR - 87 (Becker+NINJA MCQ)
    REG - 90 (Becker+NINJA MCQ and Audio)

@hunter32 @gabe I appreciate the advice, i will start to focus on knowing the journal entries. You guys made a great point. I am working more and more each day on the MCQs and its very helpful. @Lambam the NINJA MCQs and SIMS are great so far. It is just a matter of getting as much as possible done. So far I have found NInja very helpful because I am working on random MCQs and not just focusing on 1 section. While i was using Beckers i would do all hw for chapter 5 and then forget the stuff for ch.2 etc., I really like how NINJA has their system setup.

Any strategies/advice on how to tackle the SIMS questions? Is it just a matter of looking at the problem and working it over and over again?

rminrx8 – I wouldn't worry so much about how to tackle the Sims. Get the Wiley test bank, and go through EVERY single question until you have gone through the entire testbank at least 3 times, and you've scored above a 90% on the entire testbank. Do this, and you'll pass.

If you really understand the MC questions, then you'll understand Far. And the Sims are just longer versions of MCQ's.
